Re: GEORGIA 2016

For the 1st time in many years, i watched the 2 semifinals unaware of the songs. Haven't heard anything before this week.

This was by far my favorite from the lot. Wasn't expecting it to go through AT ALL... Thrilled they did!

This is a sensation and a huge surprise. I personally dislike it a lot, however this performance was one of the best ones in the history of Eurovision. It was really unique and a.ss-kicking. When I saw that performance I actually thought they may surprise. Based on this performance it is a deserved qualification.

Only if the song was better, I would be exaled right now. But nonetheless it's good to see that something different managed to qualify. Also nice to see that juries didn't massacre this diversity for a change.

They actually managed to turn the song into something good with the performance.. My thoughts of the songs were always referring back to the so weird music video.

This is beyond horrific. I was actually quite optimistic at first, because if someone supports diversity in this contest then it is me. I expected something fresh and great, but.....this made my ears bleed. Not everything that is different is good at the same time, and this is a clear demonstration. For me personally, this one shouldn't even smell the final and is definetly among the worst songs of this year.

0 points (I rarely give 0s, but in this case I have to).

And yet you massacred it the other day. Have a bit of consistency, c'mon...

My opinion of the song didn't change, you can read that in my previous post. I only like the performance. The song itself, for me, is still horrible. I clearly divided what I like from what I don't like and I think I was quite objective. Ofc, having in mind that I also have a right on my own perception of the song.

The song sang in the semi final is much improved to the one I heard when Georgia had first selected (back then it was just noise to me). A very eye-catching performance, however, this is just not my kind of music.

Final Verdict
:ge:
1 point
Position I want: 25th
Position I think: 20th

I got absolutely destroyed by the performance these guys put on last night. I was sitting there in a state of shock. I couldn't have even dreamed of it visually looking as cool as it did. It sounded even better than the studio version. As soon as the performance was over I started to feel ridiculously confident in their chances, and turns out that those of us who believed in the band and this music reaching people from the beginning were right to do so. Against all odds they made it, bringing with them a type of music and attitude we've never experienced before in a Eurovision final. This hopefully will inspire more alternative bands in the future. There should be a place for every genre at Eurovision. Variety is the spice of life. Let's have a bit of everything at our beloved contestxheart Now i've just got my fingers crossed that the jury pulled their weight with this one as well.

Not my favourite song but great to see a band with instruments and a bit of rock in the final. Good luck to them.

Against all the odds, this guys made it to the final showing that Eurovision sometimes can be about the music. I don't care about the final position, i'm just glad that we'll be able to see this masterpiece once again tonight. GOOD LUCK GEORGIA!!

Surprised the juries were more kind to Georgia. Well done UK jury! A bunch of Blur fans I bet.

Gave their album "Lemonjuice" a try. Quite good actually, loads of WTF-moments - very experimental. My favorites are Magazine, Biomechanic and the title track.

I'm very proud of my jury awarding Georgia our 12 and Ukraine 10xheatxyes

I'm super shocked that the jury were the ones to help this wonderful song along. I thought it would have been the other way around. It's a shame really, but Young Georgian Lolitaz brought some alternative rock to the final for the first time ever and won the battle of the *ahem*.. "rock" bands (sorry I couldn't resist one last shade throw at the pop rock from Cyprus).

Anyway, thank you Georgia for this entry. This is for me the best rock we've ever had at the contest and i'm delighted to have discovered this band. Not quite the result I was hoping for but still I hope this will be enough to inspire more diversity in the type of rock we get at the contest. This entry will rank high among my all time favourites. What a year to be honest. Midnight Gold, 1944, I Stand, I Didn't Knowxlove

I honestly don't understand the performance, it just gave me headache tonight, but it got one point (out of 30) from me because he could sing.

I didn't get it why this qualified on Thursday and I still didn't find anything amusing about this song apart the presentation and the mirror effects during broadcasting. I would have ranked them lower but their placement was pretty reasonable.

I'm surprised most points were from the juries and that it failed so miserably in the televote.
It deserved a better result but I understand this music is not for everyone.

It's curious that the juries keep saving songs that the fans expect them to sink an vice versa.

I didn't want to cause a fuss, but now that you mention it, I was wandering into this thread because I wasn't sure if I was finished Amanda Lear-ing, and you can indeed say "fuck" on this forum :)
