#Luxembourg1973
An outstanding contest, plenty of classic songs with only a minimum of fodder and no bad entries (other than, *sigh*,
France. AGAIN!!). Having said that, the top 2 is... not very good lol. Mocedades are one of the most overrated acts in
all of Eurovision and Anne-Marie Demonvid is a TERRIFYING human being who I can't bear to look at for more than two seconds before being skeeved out by her pit viper
death glare.
Cliff Richard - "Power to all our friends"
Nicole & Hugo - "Baby, baby'
Fernando Tordo - "Tourada"
Bendik Singers - "It's just a game"
Marion Rung - "Tom tom tom"
Ilanit - "Ey sham"
Nova - "You're summer"
Maxi - "Do I dream?"
Zdravko Kolic - "Gori vatra"
Patrick Juvet - "Je vais me marier, Marie"
Marie - "Un train qui part"
Ben Cramer - "De oude muzikant"
Mocedades - "Eres tú"
Massimo Ranieri - "Chi sarà con te"
Gitte - "Junger Tag"
Anne-Marie David - Tu te reconnaîtras
Martine Clémenceau - "Sans toi"
I am skipping 74 and 75 because I've only seen them once and I HATE them.
is first for 74 and the
is last. For 75 I can't even remember who I had last (probably France again lol), but who cares
is #01,
is #02 and you can pull the rest out of a hat, I guess.
76 on the other hand,-
#TheHague1976
-is a fucking AWESOME contest overall. It's not without flaw (there are too many
miserable male-fronted power ballads, of which only the Belgian one sets a proper mood), but the silver lining is that there a lot of variety holding up to a pretty high qualitative standard. Cathérine Ferry also marks the very first time France had FUN at this contest. Really good winners too. However if you think the above list looked good, take a look at this one:
Jürgen Marcus - "Chansons pour ceux qui s'aiment"
Freddi & Ystävät - "Pump pump"
Cathérine Ferry - "Un - deux - trois"
Anne-Karine Strøm - "Mata Hari"
Romina Power & Al Bano - "We'll live it all again"
Chocolate, Mentha, Mastik - "Emor shalom"
Brotherhood of Man - "Save your kisses for me"
Waterloo & Robinson - "My little world"
Pierre Rapsat - "Judie & cie"
Peter, Sue & Marc - "Jambo, Jambo"
Mary Christy - "Toi, la musique et moi"
Ambassadori - "Ne mogu skriti svoju bol"
Les Humphries Singers - "Sing sang song"
Sandra Reemer - "The party is over"
Braulio - "Sobran las palabras"
Red Hurley - "When"
Carlos do Camo - "Uma flor de verde pinho"
Mariza Koch - "Panagia mou, panagia mou"
#London1977
This is the closest Eurovision has come to a flawless contest. 1977 is a collaborative effort to create the most entertaining competition of all times. So many amazing, unique, interesting, daring entries. So many timeless classics. No miserable sob-storyesque
drag. Even the songs in yellow have merit, even if they are hopelessly outclassed by the A games brought by the countries in teal and green. WELL DONE, EVERYONE.
Dream Express - "A million in 1-2-3"
Lyndsey dePaul & Mike Moran - "Rock bottom"
Schmetterlinge - "Boom boom boomerang"
Micky - "Enseñame a cantar"
Robert, Marianna, Paschalis, Bessy - "Mathima solfege"
Silver Convention - "Telegram"
Pepe Lienhard Band - "Swiss lady"
Annie-Marie B - "Frère Jacques"
Monika Aspelund - "Lapponia"
Ilanit - "Ahava hi shir lishnayim"
Marie Myriam - "L'oiseau et l'enfant"
Anita Skorgan - "Casanova"
Michèle Torr - "Une pétite française"
The Swarbriggs plus two - It's nice to be in love again
Heddy Lester - "De mallemolen"
Forbes - Beatles"
Os Amigos - "Portugal na coração"
Mia Martini - "Liberà"
