Enigma is an electronic musical project founded by Michael Cretu, David Fairstein and Frank Peterson in 1990 in Germany. Cretu, who based his recording studio A.R.T. Studios in Ibiza, Spain in the early 1990s is both the composer and the producer of the project.
Cretu was born to a Romanian father and a mother of Austrian ancestry. His uncle, Ion Voicu, a famous Romanian violinist and the director of the Bucharest Philharmonic told Michael's parents that he has talent in music and as such, he studied classical music at Liceul Nr. 2 in Bucharest in 1965 and in Paris, France in 1968. He later attended the Academy of Music in Frankfurt, Germany from 1975 to 1978, attaining a degree in music.
After Cretu's marriage to Sandra in 1988, he had an idea, following suggestions made by David Fairstein, for a musical new-age dance project under the name, presented by Fairstein, of Enigma. Cretu worked with Frank Peterson and David Fairstein to create their ground-breaking first single "Sadeness," which became a surprise hit. MCMXC a.D., the album, which was released in 1990, was hugely successful. It is believed to have sold about 20 million copies worldwide.[citation needed] One of the aims of Enigma was to present music that was never been heard before and is not being produced anywhere, which also forced Cretu to continually move in new musical directions and to stay ahead of imitators.
MCMXC a.D. stayed on the charts for 282 weeks on the Billboard charts and dropped off two years after its second album, 2 the Cross of Changes, was released in 1993. Prior to this, Frank Peterson had some disagreements with Cretu and he left the project in 1991. Cretu changed Enigma's direction from Gregorian chants to tribal chants for its second album, and this led to “Return to Innocence,” which became a worldwide hit.
Cretu was approached by Paramount Pictures to write the soundtrack of the movie Sliver and he came up with another 1993 single, “Carly's Song,” the title of the track based on the character of the leading actress in the movie.
In 1996, Enigma's third album, Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi! was released. Stylistically, it sounded like a combination of the first and second albums, but it failed to achieve the same level of success.
For the fourth album, Cretu steered the project in another direction by using samples of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana for the album The Screen Behind the Mirror. Andru Donalds and Ruth-Ann Boyle first appeared on this release. Although Jens Gad had been working with Cretu on the earlier albums, this was the first time that he had been given actual credits.
Deciding that the first chapter for Enigma was closed, Cretu released two sets of compilation albums: Love Sensuality Devotion: The Greatest Hits and Love Sensuality Devotion: The Remix Collection.
By then Cretu was undecided if he should continue with the project, but eventually he came up with Voyageur in 2003. Familiar sounds of the Shakuhachi flute, tribal, or Gregorian chants were replaced with more pop-oriented tunes and beats. In March 2006, a new single called "Hello & Welcome" was released in anticipation of another album.
A Posteriori was the sixth Enigma album. It was released on 22/25 September 2006.
A seventh album, named Seven Lives Many Faces, was released on 19 September 2008.

My Love is Sophia’s first single, recently released towards the end of 2008. After several experiences in the music industry, Sophia signed a contract with MediaPro Music around mid 2008. The single was released together with a videoclip. Her first album is currently being worked upon.
Sophia’s musical experience started since very young. She has followed canto and piano lessons, travelled and learned till a few years ago, when she established in Bucharest. She is born 30 July 1981, a leo having the same birthday as our ESC representant Elena Gheorghe.

LINDA TEODOSIU
Linda Teodosiu is a 17 year old new artist and became famous as fininshing 3rd in the German Music Idol DSDS. She is living in Germany, while her mother is Spanish-German and her father Romanian. Both her parents have a musical background, her father Flavius being one of the most famous European saxofonists and her mother Belinda having participated in numerous music festivals.
After the German Music Idol, Linda was remarked by several big names. She was congratulated by Mariah Carey and obtained a contract with Sony records, being the first of the finalists to release a single. She was also chosen by Beyonce as supporting artist in her concerts held around Germany. She was proposed by Sony Records to represent Germany in 2009 Eurovision.
“Love sux” is the first single on Linda’s debut album and has been strongly promoted in the German charts. To the album contributed English and German composers as well as Linda herself and her boyfriend. Her father coordonated the making of the album and added the saxofone solos. Linda also performed her new single in tv shows on her visit in Romania with her father, when she announced her intention to launch her album here as well.

Morandi - Colors
In 2005, the Romanian composers Marius Moga and Andrei Ropcea are joining their forces for a major dance project - Morandi. The group’s name derives from the first two letters of Moga’s name and Ropcea’s nickname, Randi, creating Morandi.
Morandi has released 3 albums. Reverse 2005 (the first album), became a really big hit with totally unique sound. The album and the project was kept secret. In Romania the first release “Love me” breaked the tops and people were asking who was the mastermind behind this new sound. Nobody believed it was from Romania. The secret was rising as nobody knew Marius Moga and Andrei Ropcea was planning the success. The secret was revealed when releasing the hit “Beijo la la” and first Morandi appearence was at MTV Romanian Music Awards 2005. As Morandi hit the West-European dance floors they headed for success. The second album is called “Mind Fields”, and they kept the same original sound, really impressing the fans with the hits “Falling Asleep” and “A la lujeba”.
The third album is called “N3xt”,and had three singles called ,,Afrika”, ,,Angels” and ,,Save me (feat. Helene)".
The 4th album is called ,,Zebra" and the first single is called ,,Colors"

Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina - Stereo Love
Edward Maya is a whole musical package (producer, performer, composer & musician) from Romania. He graduated from “George Enescu” music High School in Bucharest and is currently a final year student at the National University of Music in Bucharest (Bucharest Conservatory).
At only 19 years of age he composed a song of European magnitude with E.Carcota for the well-known Eurovision contest, which went straight to the 4th place in the competition (Michael Treistariu - Tornero). This breakthrough was followed by a busy period for the artist, who worked on different contracts with Romanian artists abroad (Akcent, Costi Ionita, Vika Jigulina, Cassa Loco, Studio One, DjRynno, Dj Sava, Marius Nedelcu, BlaxyGirls, Imba).
In 2008 he produced the album that helped relaunch the band Akcent, appearing on the international music market with hits like Stay with me, That's my name and Lover's cry, all under the Edward Maya brand / signature.
The year 2009 brought a surprise on the Romanian musical market, the first song “Stereo Love” signed by Edward Maya as a producer and artist quickly becoming a real hit in clubbing places all over the world. Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina - Stereo Love
Edward Maya is a whole musical package (producer, performer, composer & musician) from Romania. He graduated from “George Enescu” music High School in Bucharest and is currently a final year student at the National University of Music in Bucharest (Bucharest Conservatory).
At only 19 years of age he composed a song of European magnitude with E.Carcota for the well-known Eurovision contest, which went straight to the 4th place in the competition (Michael Treistariu - Tornero). This breakthrough was followed by a busy period for the artist, who worked on different contracts with Romanian artists abroad (Akcent, Costi Ionita, Vika Jigulina, Cassa Loco, Studio One, DjRynno, Dj Sava, Marius Nedelcu, BlaxyGirls, Imba).
In 2008 he produced the album that helped relaunch the band Akcent, appearing on the international music market with hits like Stay with me, That's my name and Lover's cry, all under the Edward Maya brand / signature.
The year 2009 brought a surprise on the Romanian musical market, the first song “Stereo Love” signed by Edward Maya as a producer and artist quickly becoming a real hit in clubbing places all over the world. She graduated the Rahmaninov Music high school. In 2000 she moves to Romania and goes to the University in Timisoara and in her free time she was mixing in Discoland.
She mixed with Steve Murrano, Tom Craft, ATB and DJ Dox.
The band Deep Central created the song ,,Russian girl" after seing her in Edward Maya's studio.
