🇺🇸 Jesse Marsch will break that curse and qualify you guys for the UCL GS this time around.

Also I think

Patson Daka will stay for another season which should help along with
1f1f2-1f1f1.png
Sekou Koita (as long as he can stay fit)

🇭🇷 Sucic will likely be promoted from Liefering to replace 🇭🇺 Szoboszlai. Still plenty of talent as has always been the case at Salzburg. Marsch is committed to staying as well.

Bettingodds in Germany for the Relegation:

Bremen 1.22
Heidenheim 4.20

I think this is a new Record.

Kind of crazy to think Heidenheim were in the fourth tier only back in 2009 and now have a chance to be playing in the Bundesliga just over a decade later. Bremen on paper though are big favorites though.

We had more crazy Things going on here. 2015 Paderborn lead the Table after 4 Matches and ended up last in the end and relegated to league2. The Year after they were last again and relegated to league3. The Year after they were 18/20 and should relegate to league4, but they didnt have to because 1860 München didnt have a License. And then suddenly, they promoted twice in a row from league3 to league2 and from league2 to league1. And now they go down to league2 again.

So, the Liga 1 in Romania was frozen at one point due to a lot of players from FC Dinamo Bucharest and Astra Giurgiu being infected with the virus. CFR Cluj won the league title for the 3d time in a row, and for the 6 time in history, while FCSB Bucharest won the Romanian Cup. No team will relegate, so next season we will have a new sistem with 16 teams. The first 6 teams will advance to the Play-Off, where they will play against each other in 2 leged rounds, while the last 10 will go to the Play-Out where they will plaay against each other in a one leged round.

The winner of the Play-Off will go to the UEFA Champions Leaue. The 2nd placed team and the Cup winner will go to the UEFA Europa League. The winner of the Play-Out and the 2nd placed team in the Play-Out will play a match and the winner of that match will play against the 3rd placed team in the Play-Off to determine who will go to the UEFA Europa League.

The 9th and 10th placed teams in the Play-Out will relegate. The 8th placed team in the Play-Out will play a promotion/relegation Play-Off with the 3rd placed team in Liga 2, while the 7th placed team in the Play-Out will play a promotion/relegation Play-Off with the 4th placed team in Liga 2.

Here is the final table of this season:

Play-Off:
1. CFR Cluj 49 (10 matches)
2. Universitatea Craiova 44 (9 matches)
3. Astra Giurgiu 33 (8 matches)
4. FC Botosani 32 (10 matches)
5. FCSB Bucharest 31 (9 matches)
6. Gaz Metan Medias 25 (10 matches)

Play-Out:
1. Viitorul Constanta 43 (14 matches)
2. AFC Hermannstadt Sibiu 35 (12 matches)
3. Sepsi OSK Sfantu Gheorghe 34 (13 matches)
4. Academica Clinceni 32 (14 matches)
5. FC Voluntari 31 (14 matches)
6. Poli Iasi 30 (14 matches)
7. FC Dinamo Bucharest 25 (9 matches)
8. Chindia Targoviste 23 (12 matches)

Full Picture:
To UEFA Champions League: CFR Cluj
To UEFA Europa League: FCSB Bucharest, Universitatea Craiova, FC Botosani
Relegated:-
Promoted: UTA Arad, FC Arges Pitesti

AJAX SCORED 13!!! for the first time in Eredivisie history away at VVV Venlo

ElG4vuzU0AAC1jB

Burkina Faso youngster Lassina Traore had 5 goals and 3 assists. Klaas Jaan Hunterlaar and Jurgen Ekklenkamp each scored 2 with Daley Blind, Antony, Dusan Tadic, and Lisandro Martinez getting on the score sheet as well. From the highlights the VVV defending was truly abysmal.

Have you ever scene a scoreline like this @DutchSuomiFan @Citelis @whiteshoes @Realest ? :O

Poor VVV Venlo! It was 10 years ago in Eredivisie when PSV Eindhoven defeated Feyenoord with
10-0.

My first thought when I saw the scoreline of the Ajax match was like: is there some betting fraud going on? are some Venlo players get very rich now?
srsly, this result is completely out of imagination (then again, I didnt believe Barcelona could concede 8 goals until a few months ago...)

In the Bundesliga we had a couple of 8:0 wins in the last few years (Bayern defeated Schalke with this result in the beginning of the season) and a famous 9:2 win of Bayern over Hamburg seven years ago (I think).. In the 1970s there was a 12-0 win of Borussia Mönchengladbach over Borussia Dortmund, but those were different times.

The only match on a big stage of professional football I remember that had the same result was a 13-0 win of German national team over San Marino in 2006, but it's not an appropriate comparision as there are like 4-5 divisons between those teams, whereas Venlo and Ajax are playing literally in the same league, and even in one of the Top 10 leagues.. plus Venlo had a decent start into the season, and drew with AZAlkmaar only one week ago xcrazy.. whatever...very very bizarre, and also the red card in the beginning of second half cannot explain this outcome..I wonder if there is any dutch person here who watched this match? How could Venlo give themselves up so easily?

Btw, I am happy ofc for the former Werder Bremen player Davie Klaassen who has returned to Ajax lately... then again, I am sad for another former Werder player Lukas Schmitz, who is Venlo defender xfacepalm

I watched most of it. There is not a single soul here that thinks anything nefarious was going on. VVV was simply demolished by a team that had murder on their mind and wasn't going to relent at all.

VVV has a general unsolvable problem. They have fairly good players up front, but they really need to have some space to work with as they're fast but not that strong. It is not easy to get them into the game, you'll need to find them channels. I won't go too much into the whole theory of keepers as libero's, but Ajax has a very fast goalkeeper in Onana and the man is a decent passer. If Ajax has its defenders on the middle line you can't just twat long balls into Ajax territory and hope to find goals, you need to find accurate weighted passes to do that or you'll run into Onana. So basically VVV had to first reach the midfield and find channels from there, or simply hope to find a good long ball, but it has to be really good. This team VVV played it's matches on artificial grass last year and reverted back to natural grass this season. It's not too hard to place balls correctly on artificial grass. On real grass you have to hoof the ball or put a lot of extra velocity on it. It's hard to adjust, they haven't been themselves in attack. So along comes Ajax, they would keep two men back and sacrificed the rest to put pressure on VVV (and Ajax is very good at that) so they simply had to play long balls all the time. It was horrible. Out of like 100 long balls only one was good. Their only other option was to find an open channel to play the ball into the feet of their central striker and play from there, but he would quickly be crowded. This explains why VVV couldn't attack and Ajax had 75% of the ball.

Then, the VVV defence. It's just not a good defence in general, but it has merits against most opponents you really want to beat. Their central defenders are very experienced, but their age is catching up with them. They are a bit slow, they turn like a truck and the same is true for their defensive midfielder that sits in front of them. These are all strong players though, physical specimens that really know how to tackle. This is a decent setup against most of the less able teams. You'll win most duels in your own box, you will have a good anchor to defend against runners and all you have to do is just consistently keep the opposite target man out of the game. This works pretty well in most matches in the Dutch league as most players are physically a bit weak. Now, what if the target man is so strong you can't handle him and what if he is so agile you consistently lose him? You will need help. What if the help is just as slow and just as weak? You will need more help. What if that help is too far away, too slow and also not quite strong enough? You will still need more help. So yeah, VVV started running back en masse to deal with Traoré and suddenly you have no chance in hell to solve the issue of runners from midfield. Add to that the fact that Ajax simply combines well on the flanks and total chaos ensued. No one knew who was supposed to pick up who, defenders were losing their duels out of sheer confusion and let's be honest here, Ajax was simply dead accurate.

Add to all of this the fact that the VVV coach simply didn't do anything to stop the onslaught and the VVV players lost all morale while Ajax wanted to get this one into the record books and yeah... 0-13.

Meanwhile my Vitesse sits in second place with the same amount of points as Ajax.

Meanwhile in Belgium there was a crazy 5-5 draw on the weekend between Beerschot (one of the huge surprises this season after getting promoted) and KV Kortrijk (who are looking to get back in to a European competition.

Proleter 0:4 Partizan

A great opening of the season for us. We controlled the match from the very beginning and we could've scored even more goals. I am certainly satisfied, but the next match against the great team of Vojvodina will show where we are exactly at this point.

Full results of round 1:

Čukarički 2 - 1 Voždovac
Crvena zvezda 0 - 0 Vojvodina
TSC 2 - 0 Novi Pazar
Proleter 0 - 4 Partizan
Spartak Ždrepčeva krv 1 - 1 Radnički Niš
Mladost Lučani 0 - 1 Radnički 1923
Radnik Surdulica 0 - 0 Metalac
Napredak Kruševac 3 - 0 Kolubara

Table coming after the second round.
