My hopes for UMK 2021:

- More different kind of music genres
- Get rid off Krista's opening act
- If there will be international jury again, their points will revealed after televote time stops
- Mikko and Krista must stop to talk about Eurovision cliches such as wind machines and changing clothes during an act
- Hopefully some our top metal bands will participate (Nightwish, Battle Beast, Beast in Black)

Been listening thoroughly to Poets of the Fall for weeks now and WTF the talent! Their songs are so good and Marko Saaresto's presence and voice could sweep the board, but like, without a doubt. It's so sad every selection seems to be so ordinary now. I wish they add different genres next year.

I'm not entirely sure why woman empowerment, the claim for sexual self-determination and the critique of unjustified inequalities regarding the moral standards of sexual behavior between men and woman has "no meaning" for you. That's not a matter of taste, it's a matter of taking the time to read the lyrics. We're not talking "Lalala", "Diggi-loo, diggy-ley" "sieben sieben ailulu" or "boom boom chacka-chacka" here. Those are words that are meaningless.
Of course, you're free to find these issues not important enough to sing about (to which I would strongly oppose), but meaningless? Really?

Updates on UMK 2021:

- about 300 songs were sent in UM 2021
- There will be 7 finalist
- Yle will announce finalists on Tuesday 19th January
- "Among the applicants were e.g. several Eurovision representatives from previous years, award-winning end stars at the Emma Gala, Finland's most potential music export hopes at the moment, artists seen in Life Only, energetic rock bands and hot names of Alternative Music praised by critics."
- According to Tapio Hakanen (UMK professional jury led and YleX's music manager) "the level of the songs and artists was incredibly strong and I am confident that we have coming in the spring of 2021 UMK toughest of all time. I'm really happy and grateful to each and every song that sent to Yle musician." (whatever this means by YLE standards)
- The Winner of UMK 2021 will awarded with UMK Prize "Before the Party Starts" designed by Minna Viitalähde

I wouldn't be surprised if Laura Põldvere was among the 7 finalists. During her Q&A a few months ago, someone asked if she'd consider taking part of Eesti Laul again and she said she has some plans but can't share them yet. Since then she's been in Finland a lot, even looking for teachers to study Finnish and now she's just mentioned moving to her new home in Finland.

This is just speculation but she was part of the UMK jury this year and produced her last album with Finnish producers, so I'd say it's very likely.
