Extending the number of grandfinalist from 26 to 30

think this may encourage countries that withdrew to comeback. Maybe we can have a wild card round or any strategy they can think off. it hurts to see so many good songs not reaching the finals.

From a fan's perspective I would love it. However I can see people would lose a lot of interest in the contest by the 28th or so song, and then the late positioning in the running order would be more of a disadvantage for the song. Also in a year like this, where there's only 16/17 in each semi final, you'd nearly end up having every entry qualify to the final.

Indeed - it may be a good change for us fans, but some of the random viewers would just lose interest after a while.

No, very bad idea IMO. Actually 26 is too many a bit, so 30 songs at one night can make totally mess.

26 is a perfect number. There are usually 24-26 songs in the final.

This gives a chance to tighten the weak years with fewer parcipating countries. For example, if there are only 34 countries, there would be a gap in the final OR too few songs in the semifinals.

If 50 states were to parcipate in the countest, a third semifinal could be arranged. But this will unfortunately never happens.

BTW For me, 2014 semifinals also could have 16-17 countries in one SF. When, it is very exciting and unpredictable.

No, 26 is a good even number and is enough for an ESC final. We don't need any more finalists in the final.

I agree with the general consensus here, 26 is a perfect number to have in the finals. Any more and then people would lose interest especially when the calibre of songs is quite low. I feel that the number of songs in each semi final this year was perfect. Obviously the semi numbers can't be managed as the number of countries fluctuates each year. You can't reduce the number in the Final though.

There is a limit, and it's 46 I think, 20 on each semi.

I rather have 3 semi finals than 2 semis with 26 countries. do you remember the 2007 semifinal with 28 countries? i can't handle that again. xD
