The return of minimal wind AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Yeah, I'm positively surprised too. Their 2022 entry was one of my favorites. Loved the "whiskey blues" vibe. I hope they do something similar this year even if it isn't really a winning formula for Eesti Laul.

Interesting that seven of the artists also competed in 2022 including that years 2, 3, 4 and 6th place

Was already thinking that Tommy had gotten a big old nope from the juries, but they saved him for last after all. Will definitely be interesting to see what he's come up with! Looking forward to hearing all the songs come December. :giggle: Some names aren't overly exciting on first look, but who knows, they could surprise! But there are quite a few I'm pretty curious about. :D Obviously the main event will be Ant and Tommy.. who will live up to the hype or possibly disappoint. I could see both winning if the other is just OK. Our televoters do love themselves some big stirring ballads by singers with powerful voices, so Ant is probably in the running. But the song needs to impress too, not every ballad will be good enough to win (see Nele-Liis or Daniel Levi last year). If Tommy strikes the right balance of catchy and quirky, he could succeed as well, last year showed our televoters aren't adverse to fun songs. :giggle: But if the song or staging is too OTT or weird, older voters could go for something safer. Can't also rule out someone like Sahlene being a dark horse. We'll have a better idea once the songs are released. :giggle: Tho' with only one show and no semis, things might be a lot more unpredictable!

There's also the matter of the 16th song to come! Apparently every entry that grants permission will be up for vote on R2 website. I'm sure some will decline, but we might still get 100+ songs to listen to. Even if it's only 50 or 80, better make some time in that schedule I guess! But I'm definitely not complaining! :D Might finally get a better picture about the overall level of entries, and discover some cool songs along the way. I'm sure there will be plenty of grumbles about how this or that song got left out and something far worse made it. Hopefully the one who makes it in the end wil be a good addition to the lineup. :giggle: Now only another month to wait I guess.

One pre-selection jury member (Robert Kõrvits) apparently wasn't too enthused about Tommy's song. He said it was "more calm and pop than the rest of his songs, nothing very exciting. Of course the visuals matter too, but jury only heard the audio and based on that, it's a very average song with zero originality. Of course that means it could do well in Eurovision." Tastes can differ of course, and since it made the jury top 15, there must have been plenty of jurors who liked it. :giggle: But what we can take away from this (and Tanja's surprise) is that people expecting a typical Tommy Cash sound could be disappointed. Then again, people who don't usually like his songs might be pleasantly surprised. Even Tommy himself said "it's a song people probably wouldn't expect from me. Nobody will say it's like Käärijä or Joost. It's not like anything. I'm very proud of it! It's still me, but we'll see, maybe it's the best song I've ever written.". Looking forward to hearing it myself in any case. :giggle: Different doesn't necessarily mean bad, but I do hope there's still something recognizable about it, would be a missed opportunity IMO if it's just another run-of-the-mill pop song.

Tommy Trash doesn't sound like Joost or Kaarija, for this I will give him 1 pt (y), but the song is not it  Of course he will rely on circusy performance.
Our community's reaction: the song is ok but not top-5 material, people expected rave, not this Sanremo reject.

"From among the songs submitted to Eesti Laul 2025, 20 artists who achieved high points from the jury and have given their consent to participate in the competition will be put to a public vote."
