Wonder if it ever crossed your mind
That what we had was really unbelievable, unbeatable, a miracle
Why'd you have to go and mess it up?
Why'd you have to make what was unbreakable shakable, unsavable?
And now it's too late to cross your fingers
I'm wide awake and not a dreamer
Hate it, but it seems the dreams were never true
For a little while the fates were with us
Wonder why they had to turn against us
I could make a wish, but there is no use

I can feel
Even though I'm numb
The change to come will hurt someone
I can see
This time it isn't me
I might be the lucky one

I don't need a crystal ball to show me
Baby, it is plain that you don't know me
When it comes to you I'm better off alone (Better off alone)
I don't need a crystal ball to make me
Realize that if I stay you'll break me
Every sign is saying I should be gone
I should be gone

Thought I had a cloud over my head
It had to be my fault that it kept raining down
Until now, I figured out
That if I had the nerve to say goodbye
I could look for clearer skies up over head
Weather says sun instead

I don't need a crystal ball to show me
Baby, it is plain that you don't know me
When it comes to you I'm better off alone (Better off alone)
I don't need a crystal ball to make me
Realize that if I stay you'll break me
Every sign is saying I should be gone
I should be gone

I can feel (Even though I'm numb)
The change to come will hurt someone
I can see (I can feel)
This time it isn't me
I might be the lucky one

I don't need a crystal ball to show me
Baby, it is plain that you don't know me
When it comes to you I'm better off alone (Better off alone)
I don't need a crystal ball to make me
Realize that if I stay you'll break me
Every sign is saying I should be gone
I should be gone

I think he has this in the bag. I cannot even think of a real threat at the moment. I like my faves, but I don't think that they got much appeal.

I wanted to say this since I have the exact same feeling so I will just quote this post

Personally, the song that did it more for me was Koit Toome's "We Could Have Been Beautiful", my other favorites are Egert Milder (again), Sissi, Nika Marula and Karl Killing

Yeah, Uku's definitely got the best odds right now. His song this year isn't quite as cheesy, which might lose him a few votes, but it's certainly more contemporary. Still catchy enough to be a contender, might appeal more to juries as well (tho' they didn't sink him last year either). There's no big standout song to compete with him, tho' there are a few with some potential. I could see Koit putting up a bit of a fight, if he can manage the pretty demanding vocals & creates a good atmosphere on stage. Ivo Linna might get support from the oldies & people who like songs in Estonian. Can't completely rule out Suured Tüdrukud as a dark horse. It's got the catchy cheese factor.. Juries might not be impressed tho'. Can see Jüri and Kadri courting the jury votes, but they might struggle with televoters. Maybe if they can really bring it live! The rest I'd be surprised to see as contenders, but obviously live shows can bring all kinds of surprises. :D

If Uku does win, I'll be fine with that I guess. Certainly prefer this to his last entry, I like the more electronic vibe it has. :) Probably my favourite of his Eesti Laul entries actually. If they can bring a good staging, something cool & modern that matches the song, he could have a shot at qualifying come May as well, as long as the competition wasn't too fierce. But let's see what happens in February first, nothing's a given quite yet. :D

Wonder how our "top 10 every 3 years" pattern works now! I mean, last year was cancelled so.. top ten in 2022? Or did it still count since we picked a song after all? Not sure if we have any top 10 potential this year, but I guess it's much too early to tell.

Uku and Gram have impressed me so far, But Koit's song is head and shoulders above.

Based on short snippets alone, I feel like a lot of the songs I could like fall victim to cheesy/tacky production. This is just a theory and I don't know much about music production- would love to hear an opinion from someone who does.

Suured tüdrukud - OMG SCHLAGERISH DATEED DUO OMG YES SLAY MY BONES
Redel -

tenor.gif

Kéa - xheat I feel like I would like it even better some years ago, but it's still *chef's kiss*
Gram-of-Fun - ok this is great but I think the chorus could be even better.

Tanja - Amazing is far better than this but I do like it (the chorus should have been better)
Tuuli Rand - I love those pink glassex xheat it's a good groovy song.
Rahel - A bit fillerish but enjoyable enough
Uku (the Suviste) - it SCREAMS ex-boyband member debut solo single nnnn it's definitely much much much better than 2020

Andrei and Pluuto - Hmmmm I'm still unsure on this. I'll need more time as I feel like I should like it.
Nika - Her 2018 attempt >>>>>>>>>>>> this one.
Wiiralt - There are parts I like, there are some I don't
Heleza - Not offensive.
Helen - This could have had potential but it's so flat. Still not dislikable to be in the orange category.
Kooit - Is it now that I share my slightly controversial opinion of Verona > this > his 98 entry

Ivo and people - eh
Sissi - Too gospel-ish for my taste sadly :/ it seems to be a jury bait
Juri - :/ I like play, but this is so not my style of pop song. he is cuter though
Kristin - I find this boring but idk I guess I can appreciate it's a >bit< more different than the rest?
Kadri - No but I don't dislike her voice.
Uku (not the Suviste) - The type of more alternative entry I'm not fond of.

Egert - Stop men with guitars 2k20 2k21
Hans - Stop men with raspy voices 2k20 2k21
Karl - NO

*l*b*m* - Go to hell get out of my contest with this pos you had the courage to send (and damn ETV for allowing it). I wish I had a darker rd color just for this because it deserves it

Overall quality of this year`s Eesti Laul selection could be the best of all time. Couple of top 10 potential entries (if staging and singing done correctly) and handful of ESC finalists. Really happy with this contest and I might be able to watch semis this year without the support of an alcohol.

I get a little tired with whining male falsetto parts.... We've heard that for years now and it was charming for some time, but it's kinda worn out now.

some thoughts:
1. 'magus melanhoolia' is an interesting rnb song. reminds me of labrinth's sound somehow.
2. 'kiss me' is an acoustic with a strength in its sincerity. 'energy' is an acoustic with strength in its technicality.
3. can sissi just break into the worldwide scene please? i think she's already comfortable with her sound. she's ready. 'time' is a great gospel-infused song.
4. 'tartu' is intriguing. like, it's not exactly a song, but it's fun. the instrumental is very interesting too.
5. 'the lucky one' is a step up from last year. good luck uku!
6. koit has a grrreat song! i love the final chorus, and the song is well-produced overall.
7. 'uks oo' is refreshing! the vibe reminds me of seaside trip on the road.
8. '6' is great too! mixing housebeat and a soft voice. kinda reminiscent of angele but a bit more raw to the ears.
9. 'lost in a dance' is a dark horse of a song. i hope it's in the finals!

overall, there are some promising songs for estonia to choose from. in terms of the song's production i think it's a bit better than what 2020 offers.

Ok I've listened and here is my rank (not in order):

Much xheat to be had
Andrei Zevakin & Pluuto - Wingman
Koit Toome - We Could Have Been Beautiful

Quite Wonderful
Kea - Hypnotised
Suured Tudrukud - Heavens Not That Far Tonight
Uku Suviste - The Lucky One

Decent Enough
Hans Nayna - One by One
Egert Milder - Free Again
Helen - Nii Korgele
Heleza - 6
Karl Killing - Kiss Me
Nika Marula - Calm Down
Sissi - Time
Tanja - Best Night Ever
Tuuli Rand - Uks oo

Kinda Eh tbh
Alabama Watchdog - Alabama Watchdog
Gram-of-Fun - Lost in A Dance
Ivo Linna, Robert Linna, Supernova - Ma Olen siin
Kadri Voorand - Energy
Rahel - Sunday Night
Uku Haasma - Kaos
Wiiralt - Tuuled

Some mess I don't want to hear again
Kristin Kalnapenk - Find a Way
Juri Pootsmann - Magus Melanhoolia
Redel - Tartu

Overall, better than Fik I think, however unlike there Eesti Laul has songs I never want to hear from ever again. That Tartu song is just annoying on so many levels and not the slightest bit amusing. Either of the top 2 would be great, i'd be happy with any in the Quite Wonderful and then from there you get the idea... Uku song is vastly better on that tragedy he was going to inflict on Europe this year, but it's not up there with PLL which was my fave of EL that year. Heavens not that far tonight started out sitting in the xheat section but there is something missing from it for me. Also, the biggest down from song title to song is 'Energy' how can a song be called Energy and the provide less energy than someone in a coma?
