Ukraine was my winner from the start and I know it won't change.
Bulgaria and
Poland definitely belong to my top 3, they're tricky though because Poli and Michal constantly get into catfights for second place
, but I guess Bulgaria has a tiny advantage at this moment.
Azerbaijan is the biggest surprise to me
I kinda enjoyed the song the first time I heard it, but I never thought it would be so high in my ranking. I mean it's standard mainstream pop and Samra's live vocals were not on point, but the song is so catchy that I can't help humming it and enjoying the beat of it
And the studio version slays me every time tbh.
Czech Republic was supposed to be in my top 3, but I had to downgrade them since Bulgaria and Azerbaijan grew on me. Still an amazing song which deserves top 5
Norway is next, this is not the cheap pop song I expected. The tempo change is what makes the song really special, I like the melody very much.
Latvia grew on me a lot (yes, Justs is a grower... pun intended
), at first I was disappointed, now each time I listen to it, I understand the power of the song, so good!
Italy and my lovely Francesca are there too. It's pretty much the same thing than with Justs, I found her song meh when I watched San Remo (while praising her performances), but I've eventually come to the conclusion that the meaning and melody are so beautiful and touching. It's a subtle Italian pop composition imo (definitely not the instant appeal of Grande Amore) and it's just great that way.
Austria made it in my top! As a French, people may think I'm biased about that one
Actually, I appreciate the effort of singing in another language than English, which adds to the charm of the song, yet very efficient in its kind. Besides, the composition is cheerful and simple. 'Twas a breath of fresh air this year. J'aime beaucoup, merci Zoë
Armenia is a newcomer in my top. I was confused about the song until recently, and it grew on me a lot, now I think this avant-garde piece of pop music is excellent. The performances and staging were on point too. It may still grow on me and gain a few places.
The country that misses out (11th) and is the biggest loser overall is
Croatia. I thought Nina would remain in my top 5, but she never stopped falling until she got out of my top 10. I still like the song a lot but I guess it wasn't meant to be
There is something (missing or not) in the song that prevents me from loving it totally, it's strange.
