I'm sure in the future 2019 will slip further and further down tbh. It only benefited from being the most recent and therefore most fresh and memorable contest. Its like 2019 and 2018 being the top 2 contests on eurovisions Instagram vote when they're clearly not the best year this decade.

2019 doing so well is 100% down to recency bias, like every year. W/e not losing sleep over it, at least Duncan didn't beat Loreen for her crown :-) (who is a great concensus winner, so...)

Compared to 2016 and 2018, 2019 proved very weak, imho.
Almost all national finals messed it up, internal selections saved the show.

This right here is the truth.

It hasn't been a full year and 2019 already aged like MILK. 16 and 18 were really good years, 17 is also rather meh looking back at it.

Recency bias sis

the biggest problem of 2019 was the show itself. that was a new level of bad.

songs were fine, at least i had a full top 10 i could stan properly. definitely weaker than 2018 which is imo the second best year song-wise of this decade

Every Year there is Recency Bias, but still 2019 is far more successful then the previous Years.
