I wonder what the stage will look like, and what feature will be criminally underutilised this year. It seems to be a biannual tradition at this stage

2011: The satellite stage
2013: The rising feature of the satellite stage (would have been perfect for Birds!!)
2015: The kinetic sculpture
2017: The "chandelier"

Isn’t the Tel Aviv arena too small? 10 000 ... minus a couple of thousand seats as a big stage takes place

As a local citizen from Israel, if you come to Israel for the competition, I recommend taking buses and trains, because parking spaces are hard to find in the area.

The venue looks like a little brother of the IEC (2017) inside. It's 2 times smaller by square than IEC tho.

Here's the comparison to Lisbon:

But the size doesn't matter at all as long as it fits the requirements
I'm sure it won't be a problem for the techies to make it look great. It shouldn't look really small on TV but it depends of the video crew.

The height is quite tall.

Lmao, 35 songs? Do they have nothing else better to do? Well with that many surely the odds is in their favour somewhere.

I didn't know who the hell they were, so I checked the recap of their past ESC NF compositions they posted on their Youtube channel  And their work is pretty... anonymous? National selections are filled with such type of songs all the time.

I mean if they wonder why their songs haven't been chosen, to me the explanation is clear. Quantity over quality seems to be their motto.

34 countries have been confirmed as of now.

These are left:

Armenia
Australia (Israel intended to send an invitation tho, so they're in)
Belarus
Hungary
Italy
Moldova
Montenegro
Russia

If I remember correctly Russia did not confirm officially last year nor in 2016. Maybe that‘s the new policy and we wont hear from
them either until we get the final list from the EBU.

AlekS also you forgott add :kz: and :xk: in the list, because i had the feeling that EBU will add them in december just after JESC, or at least one of them.

Rossiya 1 apparently confirmed, but Russians don't reveal their plans until last minute ;)

Kosovo is not even ITU/Council of Europe member. And they won't join in the near future.

From what I've heard today Kazakhstan is out. Yeah, but let's wait and see for the official word.

But EBU & their reference counsil will decide on the membership of Kosovo in December, and if the vote is involves each EBU member then a simple majority vote may go in

favour to debut next year, because their lobby will put pressure on EBU for it.

Regarding on :kz:, everything will depend on their JESC results, if Daneliya wins in their first ever debut, then EBU could let them debuting next year too!

Normally I am cautious with predictions, but I'd say we'll see neither :kz: nor :xk: debuting in 2019.

If the EBU wanted Kosovo to join without membership they would have done so a few years ago

Also:
3.21. The General Assembly shall admit an applicant as a Member if, after a recommendation from the Executive Board, it decides by an absolute majority that the candidate fulfils all the membership conditions.
The EBU has already said that Kosovo doesn't fulfil the membership conditions so the decision (if this voting happens at all) is pretty obvious. Things won't change in 6 months. Not even sure about 1 year.

:kz:. Nobody gives a shit about JESC results. However the participation itself should influence the EBU. If they take part in JESC so why not in Eurovision? + this will be their 12th ESC broadcast.

EBU has been very clear that apparently :au: is in the Council of Europe and within the European Broadcasting Area  xshrug but :kz: is not so the door is closed xshrug

As for :xk: , I think we might see them, but in 2020 first...
