I really don't think regions matter. Yes it would be best if it showed all of Ukraine, but I think foremost the design should be something that is unrecognisably Ukrainian to foreigners and possibly be a discussion point for some people. I think the Petrikyvka graphics posted above look amazing and a lot of hard work has gone into creating something that looks super professional and really I think Petrikyvka would be a great idea to go with. Maybe not quite as elaborate as those designs above but it's definitely a theme that would look and work super great for Ukraine. What they need to avoid is just going for bland faceless graphics that look good on the face of it but really offer nothing about that country. I would say 2016 graphics are a great example, the scoreboard being the biggest let down and near copy of 2013.

I think EBU won't let us to play around national graphics. In 2009 and 2012 it was still possible (and those designs looked beautiful) but now when they're trying to make show more international and universal it's probably unaccaptable for them.

Maybe. I think that would be a real shame though, it's those sorts of graphics that I like the best, especially 2012. The only year of recent times with some warm colours used is 2012, every other year have used cold colours. Whatever Ukraine go with I hope it doesn't involve blue, purple or black. They've all been way over used in recent years and therefore lack any originality.

It would be so lovely to see yellow and bright colours used. They did it in 2003 and it was lovely!

The EBU & NTU will select the graphic concept (logo/slogan) winner in the beginning of December.
The winner of the stage design/construction will be selected in December.
All the works inside the venue will begin in the middle of March (earlier than usual).

I bet they'll delay the announcement of the graphic concept until the Insignia handover in January, which will be so frustrating!

I heard from NTU that they want to announce it right when they pick the winner but the EBU will have the final say though.

The stage design will be presented in February.

On the yellow background. This is the closest to national traditions (head wreath?) that I could descry. + its red neighbour to the left which looks like poppy.

The yellow one would be unusual indeed The closest one is Helsinki 2007 but still very different.
+ the first logo on yellow background since 1982. Bright yellow since 1959.

ps. It's not the final variant though. All the finalists including the winner have been re-designed a little since then.

On this photo you hardly can see anything. Plus it's an old photo, I am sure some improved. Also I doubt we will see any relation of logo to background since logo should look good on any background (production, video, souvenirs etc)
I just really hope we don't get Petrykivka
