It's not even a month after Jamala's victory and already a student from the Lviv National Academy of Arts has put forward the idea of using Petrykivka-style art for the design for the 2017 contest:

I do think NTU will go down the road of Petrykivka or Vytynanky style for the design for 2017. National design like that has been used a lot in recent years in Ukraine and Jamala herself wore many traditionally-designed outfits in Stockholm.

I don't mind it. The design portion - logo in particular - would be the easiest part for Ukraine to improve on from the last few years. The last few years have been absolutely hideous in that regard.

It looks very pretty and I like the idea, but I think it needs to have some amendments made to it since right now it looks more like a pattern than a logo. I certainly think it would be great if this design were incorporated though.

I think they could do something similar to the 2013 logo, with a big multi-colorful flower or bunch or flowers. Maybe that's too generic but I think it would fantastic. For the "look" of the contest, they could use a vine of flowers with each flower representing the flag of each participating country.

Hello, friends!) I would like to represent my project which I had been working for two long, but inspiring months! I am an ardent fan of Eurovision contest since 2006, and once I had a dream to create a design for this international song contest! When our incredible Jamala won, I just decided, that I would do it! My first thought was: "I want it to be Petrikov painting, but in more interesting and modern way." I do not know whether I succeed, so I am going to accept all of your criticism and support ! Each petal, every plumelet are full of my soul, and I really hope that you will appreciate it! What about the very idea of my logo: as for me, Ukraine is associated only with bright colors, so I initially decided that the entire project will be represented with the same bright style! The Crane and flowers of Petrykivka paintings are a symbols of Ukraine, so I took these elements as my basis. The Crane flies up, so its wings form a heart of flowers. This picture shows freedom, love and striving upwards for the better. So that way the tagline was created: "YOUR FLOWER-SOUL, FREE AND ALIVE!" The Crane is painted national colors, in the future the flag of each participating country will be displayed on bird's wings! There are two threads in the beak of a bird - red and white, which it embroiders the name of the country! When I came up with this idea about the thread, I immediately imagined the advertising saver: the Crane flies around the globe, having a red thread in its beak, it puts point in each country. For example, firstly in Ukraine, then it flies farther to Poland, puts there a point and flies further. Finally there is an endless thread, the Crane flies with it all over the world. It formed a red clew, the globe of the threads, which symbolizes the unity of all of the countries. The bird flies on our background, writes the name of the country with a help of thread and stops. In my head I imagine it beautiful, in a modern way, with all sorts of amazing effects! ))

I would be endlessly grateful for reposts and support of my idea !!!) It is really important to me! Thanks ❤

Wow, that really looks good! I would just leave out the "Ukraine" written across the flower heart. But it looks awesome. Could you make some flower logos with the different country flags?

igrobar, i really liked your design, especially the bird, it can be turned into colors of other countries, like the butterfly of 2013, and the flower heart is really cute and gives it an ethnic touch. But i have to agree about the "Ukraine" written inside the flower heart. Also the theme catchphrase should be shortened, such as "Free and Alive" etc. Overall your design is wonderful and i'd like to see it used in a more elevated way.

After looking all the Petrykivka style designs, I really don't think there'a anyway you can go wrong with it. It could influence the slogan too, with something like "Let Love Bloom/Grow".

Nope, each of them has to offer their own slogan/graphic concept.

http://1tv.com.ua/news/channel/84623

NTU selected the best 5 companies (graphic concepts) to the next stage.
They were given time to improve their projects considering remarks from NTU and the EBU Reference Group.

NTU announced 4 participants (the stage) that take part in competition:

 • Florian Wieder (ESC 2011, ESC 2012, ESC 2015)
 • Kuby Design (ESC 2011, ESC 2012)
 • Zinteco (ESC 2005, JESC 2009, JESC 2010 & JESC 2011)
 • Artmax (ESC 2005, JESC 2010, lots of local open air fests)

I believe that the first 3 can be involved in creating the general stage (the winner will have the biggest part). Artmax can work on Eurovillage stage. Most def a Swedish company will provide some part of lighting again.

Actually I think it would be a really good idea as a logo and stage design to use Ukrainian flower crowns as an influence. It would be nice to have a crown as part of the stage design and having a much more natural theme. I found these really beautiful photos women wearing these crowns as an example.

They just have to use flowers. It's simple and very beautiful. I also hope that Eurovision logo will be similar to EURO2012 logo which was one of the best ever imo

igrobar Your designs are simply breathtaking. Although, I would have to agree with blue00eyes to simply use the flowers as it is the most beautiful parts of the design. I would edit the slogan just a bit as well to either "Your Flower & Soul, Free & Alive" or "Your Flower/Your Soul/Free & Alive" as it flows a little better when saying it. Also, implementing this design to the stage would really make it beautiful.

Tbh i absolutely dont like Petrikyvka designs at all. I would rather see national patterns which in trend now with something modern. Ukraine might show much more then only this style which popular in only one region of country xshrug I have seen it on pics many times but never in real because its very unpopular in Western Ukraine.

We should at least once not follow Western Ukraine standards.

I really don't think regions matter. xshrug Yes it would be best if it showed all of Ukraine, but I think foremost the design should be something that is unrecognisably Ukrainian to foreigners and possibly be a discussion point for some people. I think the Petrikyvka graphics posted above look amazing and a lot of hard work has gone into creating something that looks super professional and really I think Petrikyvka would be a great idea to go with. Maybe not quite as elaborate as those designs above but it's definitely a theme that would look and work super great for Ukraine. What they need to avoid is just going for bland faceless graphics that look good on the face of it but really offer nothing about that country. I would say 2016 graphics are a great example, the scoreboard being the biggest let down and near copy of 2013.
