It's a relevant point. There aren't many entries in that semi that don't (seem to) have good vocalists.I wouldn't count on the people who care about stunning vocals crowd. This semi is full of them. Montenegro Latvia Austria Greece Lithuania Malta Georgia Czechia Israel and Serbia are all fighting for that vote. Plus from Austria to Czechia (including UK and France) there is a long stretch of excellent vocals. Denmark is in that stretch towards the end but not at the end. People will be expecting excellent vocals by the time they get to her so it wont stand out and Czechia is not the country who will let the ball drop.
I'm happy for your optimism. I personally think Denmark is slightly more likely to nq than q, casual reaction I've observed has been great vocals but the song is meh/ boring, that, no televote support from the allocation, Denmark's inability to elevate a song live and being relatively far down the fan rankings for its genre really give me doubts for Denmark,It's a relevant point. There aren't many entries in that semi that don't (seem to) have good vocalists.
But at least Denmark has a chance of beating several of the songs outside of the bookmakers' top 6, as I see it. Last year, despite decent odds, it was hard to see how Denmark could make it through from the semi, just by looking at who Saba was up against.
"I also don't understand how Denmark has once again come up with the idea that it's cool for a singer to scream drawn-out vocals at me."
You mean ... "their own voice" like the song with Rasmussen which was written by Swedes, and "In A Moment Like This" which was written by Swedes - right? She may be "funny" (each to their own) and have a great voice, but the song is basic and uninteresting. If this is still a SONG contest, she should not qualify. Also, if it qualifies, Denmark will think it's OK to keep sending bland, generic songs… I want Denmark to stop trying to copy the worst Melfest entries and find their own voice again instead.
No.I'll be disappointed if Denmark doesn't finish above Serbia and Lithuania in the semi. The bookmakers think they'll do better than Sissal though (by quite a margin in fact).
Even Ireland is behind them, and it seems to be a likely scenario that both Ireland and Denmark end up on the losing side. What a defeat for accessible melodic pop that would be.
In all four previous years, I've accepted before the contests the possibility of Denmark not qualifying. This year it's different. Another NQ will be a really bitter pill to swallow.
I love Sissal too! In a way, I can not remember any other past representative with any similarity to her. She looks so "normal" but so diva at the same time. Waiting for a miracle.I really really love Denmarks staging. And not just because Denmark is my personal winner - I think the movement it creates is really beautiful and Sissal looks bomb.
And what makes me pretty emotional: When I listened to Hallucination the first time, I envisioned a staging quite exactly like that. Even the colour palette is the same. And yeah, for a fact that’s why I might have sobbed when I saw the rehearsal pictures and the rehearsal clip. I think the upgrade is there, whether people still criticise Sissals outfit or not.
I do have a problem with Hallucination though. It will most likely not qualify. And that seriously bothers me. Why? Because basic and really good pop doesn’t seem to stand a chance at Eurovision anymore (just when it’s Loreen or a country with good diaspora). Sissal is so dependant on juries, it breaks my heart. Hallucination is that song I would fight for and no matter what happens will be one of my five fave songs of all time. Don’t know how Sissal grabbed my heart like that - but I am addicted. And I know I will cry during the performance and when she makes it through - or not.
I'm afraid it's the opposite: She has had too much influence on it. And the team around her didn't have the guts to say: this doesn't work.Sounds like she's been thrown under the bus with staging too.
I agree in regard to 2 to 5. I don't know about 1. Eurovision is full of dated stuff. 'We Will Rave' was more dated than 'Hallucination', but did quite well despite being sung by a weaker vocalist.Heres way i dont think we will qualify:
1. Sounds like Sweden 2012 and not Denmark 2025
2. Not a fan or odds qualifyer
3. Staging looks like Sissal with 5 scarecrows
4. Its Denmark beeing Denmark (we are still 10 years behind)
5 DR dosnt understand what eurovision is about
We must frequent different fan spheres, because I've seen so much fan support.Heres way i dont think we will qualify:
... 2. Not a fan or odds qualifyer...
Sometimes more outdated stuff can do better than only recently outdated stuff as there is a nostalgia element for it. I dont think we have reached that stage for the early 2010s just yet.I agree in regard to 2 to 5. I don't know about 1. Eurovision is full of dated stuff. 'We Will Rave' was more dated than 'Hallucination', but did quite well despite being sung by a weaker vocalist.
Also, there is no direct comparison to other songs. You can't say "Hallucination sounds exactly like" [insert song]. It's only the genre that may be a problem.
But if you look at the whole selection of songs in Switzerland, which songs could realistically have been Danish entries? Only a few. Maybe Czechia, Armenia, Norway, UK, Slovenia.
True concerning the odds. But many fans like it! It was 18th here:Not a fan or odds qualifyer
