I'll be happy (and a bit surprised) if Dansk Melodi Grand Prix is going to have just one song with the same quality as any of the five best songs in Norway's MGP.
Hopefully very unlikely. I can't stand the song. How likely is a REDDI win?
I'm with you. I honestly don't think it's a bad group of songs. I don't know if people have some biased idea that Denmark will only have middle-of-the-road to bad songs because the selection hasn't been that great for a couple of years, but I don't think it's the case this year. That said, these songs reflect Danish music as it sounds right now, so it's very genuine for representing Denmark.I honestly don't think the line-up is that bad. It sounds like an average Melfest heat lol. My favorites are Fuld Effekt and Reddi
I don't know if it's weird or against the idea of the contest. I see it as helping to build up the engagement and anticipation. It's the same reason why the songs are now getting pre-released. I remember when we didn't get to hear anything until they stepped onto the stage the night of. - And like you say, the songs that go to the final round don't have the benefit of pre-show votes. In the end, it's all about the then-and-there votes, which are influenced by the live performance. It's really weird that people can vote for songs before the show. I mean - DMGP and Eurovision are about live performances, aren't they?
I've sometimes been cheering for a song and then stopped doing it when it was performed live because it didn't sound good enough. With this new voting format, I could actually end up disliking a certain song while having already voted for it!
I guess in the end, the pre-show votes will not decide the winner, but still - the whole concept is sort of against the idea of the contest.
