Dark horses:
Switzerland will sneak through to the final and get a top 10 like Gianluca did last year with a similar song (happy, playful, fun) if he gets his live in check. It has the Rybak-esque playfulness, but lacks the oomph and try-too-hard which later gave Alexander the victory. But there's often a happy, playful surprise song to reach top 10 (or just outside of it) that no one really saw coming (Malta 2013, Moldova 2012 at 11th place). Plus, Sebalter is a total charmer.
The Netherlands could be the Kedvesem of the year? Quite overlooked by eurofans, but the general audience will like the calm nature of the song and vote for it. Maybe not top 10 but top 15? They perform nicely and I can see a televoting appeal, especially, if it should qualify, placed between more uptempo songs, it can be that nice, calm touch. Nobody believed in Kedvesem too much either, but it just did it.
Flops of the year:
Sweden is massively overrated every year by eurofans (see for example 2008) and the years they actually did well recently (see 2011, 2012) the songs are chart stuff, modern, and in case of 2011, will put all teenager girls' panties in a twist. Undo will qualify of course, but will miss out of the top 5 and maybe even the top ten everyone and their moms expects it to get. I like the song, I just don't see a massive support for it. It's gonna either totally bomb, like Hungary 2011, or then get a mid table result a la Stjernberg.
Belgium is in direct competition with another bigger boned man singing a ballad, that's Norway. These two will swallow each other whole, but in the end Norway will get out of it alive (possibly top 10) because the song is more sincere, while poor Axel will be left out of the top 10, possibly even the top 15. Bonus points on the voice, which juries will like, but a lot of people (except moms) picking up the phone to vote for an opera-esque entry while there are plenty of uptempos and more approachable ballads to choose from? I just can't imagine it happening.
