Honestly don't care
I'm happy you're here
Tryna make you smile for a while now
I'm like, "Omaga, you're so beautiful"
Why don't you come over and have it?
Why don't you let me have it? Oh

I did a lot of dumb shh
Lot of things I wish I didn't do, aye
Baby, come back, won't you?
Back, come back, he-ey
Oh, I'm crazy
Is it crazy to love you?
Baby, come back, won't you?
Back, come back

You said you're still too mad 'bout them things I did
But I don't know what I did, my baby, yeah
You said you again feel down, to blame apocalypse
There ain't no apocalypse
Long as you're here on my lips

Honestly don't care
I'm happy you're here
I'm tryna make you smilе for a while now
I'm like, "Omaga, you're so bеautiful"
Why don't you come over and have it?
Why don't you let me have it? Oh

You've been home too long
I've been home too long, yeah
We both need to feel love, nothing wrong with that
Můžeš bejt u mě klidně mužem dělat jakoby

There ain't no apocalypse
Long as you're here on my lips

Honestly don't care
I'm happy you're here
I'm tryna make you smile for a while now
I'm like, "Omaga, you're so beautiful"
Why don't you come over and have it?
Why don't you let me have it?

Like omaga, omaga
You're so beautiful
Omaga, omaga
Why don't you let me have it?

You said you're still too mad 'bout them things I did
But I don't know what I did (what I did, what I did)
You said you again feel down, to blame apocalypse
There ain't no apocalypse
Long as you're here on my lips

Honestly don't care
I'm happy you're here
I'm tryna make you smile for a while now
I'm like, "Omaga, you're so beautiful"
Why don't you come over and have it?
Why don't you let me have it?

Like omaga, omaga
You're so beautiful
Omaga, omaga
Why don't you let me have it?

Omaga, omaga
You're so beautiful
Omaga, omaga (yeah)
Why don't you let me?

...our televote gave 12 points to Moldova... Do we have a strong diaspora of theirs or something I am not aware of? Because that seems like the most random thing ever :D
I thought the same thing when I saw it, it's really weird. I haven't seen a single Czech even mention Moldova on any social media/comments under articles. Finland and the favourites (Italy, Switzerland, France, Iceland) seem to be the most popular ones from what I've seen.

Benny getting few points is not really a surprise to me. I wouldn't have been surprised if he came last actually as I couldn't really imagine the target audience who'd vote for it. It's a pity. I hope that next year we'll send something more daring. The delegation seemed to be open to that as there've been quite a few interesting choices in our NFs so hopefully no big name will win based on popularity alone.

The Czech Republic has clearly decided to take the contest more seriously since 2017 and 2018. I consider this result as more of a bump in the road, trying something very different from what they would have sent 10 years ago or even 5 years ago.

Benny Cristo’s song was fun, the staging was well executed, but the vocals weren’t all there and I think that is what sunk it.

CZ is heading in the right direction with their small diverse NFs and I don’t think they should let up on it.

Benny is one of my favorite people from this edition but this was just a non-event. He moved and sounded like he finished two packets of cigarettes just before.
I've seen people claiming he was high. Well ... in the Netherlands weed is easily available, who knows?

Some of the articles I've read in our newspapers are really appalling. Calling on our country to withdraw, pointing out how much our participation costs (not much, in the grand scheme of things), fueling all the bad stereotypes about the contest which are so 2008... the ratings were bad as well (the final didn't make it into TOP8 shows in the prime time and the 8th most watched show had 200 000 viewers)....really hope we will stay in the contest next year.

We really need televised national final. And if not that, then at least a compromise where we could vote based on live performances. I am quite sure that Barbora Mochowa wouldn't end in the last place in our NF televote if people could hear her live performance.

Doubt it. It seems like that Benny didn't prepare for the show as much as he should have. I saw some articles where "anonymous source from Czech esc team" complained Benny didn't give it his all and Jan Bors hinted at something similar, he had some interesting comments about Benny on twitter which were probably true. but still not sure if he should say something like this publicly.

Also Jan has been hinting on social media he might be back in Eurovision at some form next year. Really interesting, I doubt he would be let in the Czech team so soon, so I am thinking whether he has some plans with Slovakia and their broadcaster. Would be cool if Slovakia returned.

The viewing figures were probably bad because everyone watched hockey. Unfortunately, it clashed.

I don't think that Benny was high but I was also surprised by his lack of energy and the non-existent staging as well. He was probably just nervous and tired. I believe that if there had been pre-parties like usual it would help him get comfortable performing the song.

Jan Bors does talk more than he probably should but the insights are interesting  I can't imagine Slovakia coming back, though. If he were to help another country, it would probably be one which already is taking part but maybe not doing well enough. He might not even be part of a country's delegation but rather help organize Eurovision - there could be some changes happening due to the change of executive supervisor.

I hope that our delegation (especially the HOD) will approach the situation constructively and learn from their mistakes. As you've mentioned, I've also noticed that the articles about Eurovision were much worse this year than usual. I wonder if that's something that the delegation can also influence?

I am actually very surprised by all those articles -> if anything, I would have expected some moderate praise for :it:, :fr: or for instance :fi:. Instead it's the bashing business as ususal as far as newspapers are concerned (I think the discussions are slightly better though).

As for Benny - yeah, I think he is perhaps used to improvise his way through more complicated situations and he only fully understood in Rotterdam how big the entire adventure would be. I thought his fandom might've improved the ratings, but sadly he didn't make it to the finals and our ice-hockey team playing a match was the final nail in the coffin.

As for Jan Bors, I kinda feel he almost became the usual Eurovision blogger, often passing his own taste for quality. True, he has those HoD years under his belt and sometimes has some interesting background information due to his social network. But I think he's not the type to make videos at home forever. Sooner or later, we'll see him back in TV, be it Czech / foreign TV, Eurovision related or otherwise. That's where he's at home and what he excells at.

And you guys are/were right. We absolutely need the national final, even if it should be just live singing without any big stagings whatsoever.

I am sorry but this is actually embarrassing to finish with 0 TV points in the semifinal. He joins the likes of Claudia Faniello from Malta or Ari Ólafsson from Iceland which is not a good company. And their entries were actually musically terrible to merit that fate unlike 'Omaga'.

It is really pointless to talk about Ben, as he simply failed, and there is no need for analysis, why he did so. He will not be there in ESC 2022, but Czech TV will (I hope). So it is them, who shall be analyzing the failure, and failed in staging they certainly did IMHO.
The viewing figures would always be low when colliding with ice-hockey, albeit I think, the worse the situation gets with hockey, the more the people will be pissed with our sqaud and might switch to the ESC, to let out their frustations there
We need a national live final or, as it has been said, voting based on live performances.
The likes of Buchert, Köth, SPacilova....well, it is forbidden to be rude here, so I´ll just remain silent, but especially Köth´s article had nothing to do with journalism...
Probably reproducing the narrative of Political Song Contest Sokolov and Bizarre Show in order to appease your alleged target group is all these f**ktards can do...luckily, the comments beneath these articles were surprisingly critical of this to a certain extent ,referring to some good performances of the evening, e.g. France, Italy, Iceland...

And I also believe, that young artists or artists not belonging to the Czech mainstream are taking more and more notice of the options, the ESC and event the national final brings them.
Czech TV should risk live national final. With good performers, good songs, it will be more likely to "bind" the viewers to the national contestant send to Italy...a clandestine national online-final and barely any news on the Czech ESC-participation will hardly raise the viewing figures and the attractivity of the contest in Czechia...
and as for Jan Bors...
A clash of approach philosophies, I would call this video.

Apparently the Czech jury result might be nullified because one the jurors didn't have Czech citizenship.

Jesus, don´t they read EBU-regulations at Czech TV? :ROFLMAO::unsure: at the same time however: Tonya had been living in Czechia for such a long time and is part of the Czech musical scene, permanent resident most likely, so the impact of her not having Czech citizenship on her judgment is simply formalistic...

I don't really understand this issue... is there a rule that the jurors must be citizens of said country?
Tonya has been living here for as long as I remember and I definitely consider her Czech. She's been integral part of our music scene, collaborated with some of our biggest artists like Monkey Business band etc.

If we are talking about Tonya, is Miro Žbirka ok? He's Slovak. Slovak who's been living in Czech Republic for as long as Tonya, perhaps. Maybe he has a Czech citizenship, but the cases are basically the same, the difference being just that Miro has a Czech citizenship and Tonya doesn't, despite both being "foreigners" who have been living here for decades.

By the yeah, how did he manage that these constant ''yeahs'' in the live performance were both cringe but also sexy? :sneaky::unsure:

I was honestly a bit surprised that Žbirka was in our jury because I thought he was Slovak. Apparently he lives here though.

Tonya Graves should be considered Czech for the purposes of our jury, it's almost ridiculous to not consider her one just because she hasn't taken some test on Czech history or whatever they ask in it.

I'm a bit confused though: if she is a permanent citizen, wouldn't that make her a Czech citizen? xstars
He probably meant a "permanent resident" - not a citizen, but having a permit for living here on permanent basis.
Not that it would've been difficult for Tonya to obtain a Czech passport had she wanted to, she'd taken part in the Czech version of Strictly and demonstrated a decent command of Czech there, which is usually the greatest obstacle when getting our citizenship.
