:at:
best:
Timna Brauer - Die Zeit ist einsam (incredlibly beautiful lyrics)
Conchita Wurst - Rise like a Phoenix (obviously)
Udo Jürgens - Merci Cherie
George Nußbaumer - Weil's dr guat goht

honorable mentions: César Sampson, Zoe, The Rounder Girls, Karel Gott

worst:
Trackshittaz - Woki mit deim Popo
Alf Poier - Weil der Mensch zählt
Wilfried - Mona Lisa (mainly because of the vocal performance, the song itself was acceptable)
Manuel Ortega - Say a word (I have the feeling he took it literally and just used that one word for the whole song)

not-so-honorable mentions: Bob Martin, Christina Simon, Eleonore Schwarz, Ferry Schwarz, Harry Winter (we had a pretty bad start into Eurovision tbh  )

My favorite :ee: entries would be:

Kaelakee hääl (1996)
Keelatud maa (1997)
Once in a Lifetime (2000)
Tii (2004)
La Forza (2018)

Although the entire streak from the noncompeting 1993 entry to at least 2000 are awesome songs. (I like Everybody as well, but little less than the previous ones)

Least fave... well, the 2005-2008 slump in general because those bad results were well-deserved. Two stand out more though:

Through My Window (2006)
Leto Svet (2008)

The former because 2 Quick Start stuck with the dated Swedish formula that had brought them success before, but was blatantly out of style at this point (Eurovision trends also come and go), plus the song was much less memorable than their earlier efforts and outright copied an ABBA riff. I'm not against international juries as a concept, but the one that selected this was presumably made up of some old Eurofarts considering their taste. And the song had almost nothing actually representative of Estonia either. I feel like it's sort of the "What Love Is" of its day since they share many issues (I'm not including that here because it's too recent to form an objective opinion).
Leto Svet meanwhile was bad on purpose, yes, but that doesn't mean I have to appreciate it, and even though I'm Estonian I definitely didn't get the "Estonian humor" that supposedly was its appeal (unless it refers to the xenophobic implications, and those alone are off-putting even if the song had any musical merit).

I'm not familiar enough with pre 2010 contests, so I'll judge only the :fr: entries from the past decade

TOP 3 (no ranked)
Jessy Matador - Allez Ola Olé (2010)
I would have never guessed this song was one of our ESC entry, this just screams 2010's French Summer Hit, far from what we usually send. Fun fact, it was at the same time the French football team's theme song for the WC (and we saw how it went...)
Anggun - Echo (You and I) (2012)
Amandine Bourgeois - L'Enfer et Moi (2013)

BOTTOM 3 (not ranked)
Amaury Vassili - Sognu (2011)
Actually I'm really, really, glad we sent something in Corsican. My absolute dream would be to have an entry in Basque or Breton, unfortunately we can't even manage to send an entry in 100% French nowadays. But back to the song, I don't connect with it unfortunately, it feels flat.
Lisa Angell - N'oubliez pas (2015)
Twin Twin - Moustache (2014)
I can't take this song seriously. I know it is meant to be a joke entry, but it is... too much. Or maybe not enough. The fact I understand the lyrics doesn't help either.

Since I don't know too much about the songs before 2000, I'll take the millenium:

Worst

2. Lou – Let's get happy 2003
3. Corinna May – I can't live without music 2002

Best:
1. Lena – taken by a stranger 2011

Just swap Electro Velvet with Scooch and your first ten entries are my my top 10 UK entries as well - not exactly in that order but almost and who knew there‘d be anyone else who’d rank Joe & Jake, Bonnie Tyler, Jemini and Engelbert that high:love:

Haha, well actually when it was first released Electro Velvet would have been high up on my list too, I really liked it. But after the live performance and over time it has dropped down the rankings :p Joe & Jake, Bonnie Tyler and Jemini I have always really liked, whereas Engelbert is the opposite to Electro Velvet and gone up the rankings over time!

According to that I have the UK in my top 10 7 times in the 00s and 10s(2000 4th 2001 2nd 2002 4th 2005 3rd 2011 1st 2016 8th 2019 7th) and I also have 2010 and 2012 quite high. I generally hate grouping the 00s with the 2010s in most things though, I mean I left school in literally 2009 so the 2000s are very distinct in my mind.

Joe & Jack is my UK #1 since 199... something (no, not Katrina and the waves). My guilty pleasure. Jemini is such a banger, they were just unlucky with their voices, just like that pretty blonde lady who sang „A message to your heart“ ... oh wait, I think this is my favourite UK entry until J2 happened...
