Oh well. 20th is pretty disappointing but she made it to the final at least. Azerbaijan once again on the right track.

İ am super sad it was overlooked this year, it was definetely better then many who placed above. Tbh Azerbaijan should come back with their lobby because it still works in Eurovision (see Kirkorov)

I'm not a defender of the old language rule (though I like it a lot when there are different languages in the contest), but shouldn't the performer at least speak the language a little bit they are choosing to sing? I mean last year Armenia, this year Azerbaijan where the poor singer had to learn phonetically something?

I had actually subconsciously erased this entry from my mind after Saturday night. I saw this thread and had to think about the song (despite loving it). Poor Efendi got lost amongst the final.

I can't tell if this is TIX's fault, but Mata Hari is one of my most played esc songs post contest lol
When the song first came out I played the sh't out of it. Then it became quite boring after some time. I was really sceptical about the performance (her dancing energy....) but it turned out GREAT! She really lifted the song with performance, loved the energy! (so maybe it is TIX's fault after all) I'm sad for her 20th place, I think she deserved at least top15. Also, during 'Cleopatra' time in 2020, I found her somehow arrogant, but I was really surprised how sweet and kind she is.

This deserved better for sure, and she did a better performance in the final than the semi...

Oddly I thought it would do better with the televoters than it did (I don't have hopes for juries)...

It's always a bit irritating when you really get behind a country's entry (a country that I never really had any big favs from in the past), and then of course this is when it flops

I did not care for it and I guess many others too. It has always sounded to me like a rather weak rehash of 'Cleopatra'. It's a song that hardly anyone will remember in a couple of years from now. But I have to say that Efenti won me over as a person, she seems very sweet.
