Deserved and expected qualification :D Superb staging, one of the best ones this year. And the song is good, of course.

He might even end in top 5 in the final.

Congratulations to Chingiz, after Dihaj's robbery, I bet it feels good to be back in the top ten. :) Your efforts were rewarded.

You know what? I'm starting to soften about "Truth". I didn't really know whether I liked it or disliked it until then, and now I'm enjoying it more and more. Grower in the making for me!

Dihaj was robbed but I thought they were robbed last year too, and also Dilara Kazimova. This one I thought sounded much cheaper and maybe that made it more popular, but I don't feel that reflects well on it as a music contest. There are some other awards like best composition which are done along jury lines, but I find them questionable and more about hype and reputation. Things seems to do well normally on a mixture of hype and stage effects. And don't make the music either more elaborate or subdued, most won't follow it, the juries or televote.

Well-deserved top 10. I mean the song is voted no. 5 on the jury and no. 8 in the televote. So like The Netherlands/Switzerland/Italy/Australia/Russia/Sweden*, it's loved by both groups. It's quite an achievement.

*Caveat: Overrated by the juries as usual.

Azerbeijan's song last year was painfully nondescript and Dilara Kazimova couldn't sing at all to save her life in the Final (albeit maybe to some deaf tone people she was vocally ok, smh). So I disagree with you.

As for Dihaj, she could and should have finished higher (for me everything was spot-on and the song itself lit), but what's done it's done and I take into consideration the fact that tastes of many people differ drastically from mine. People also don't tend to vote for their 5th, 10th favourite song and I can imagine this one falling into these category of entries.

Finally the return back to the top ten where Azerbaijan belongs xlove
And this was the first year ever since Dilara that I kept my expectations down a bit to not get dissapointed when they didn’t do well like in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018...
Not sure what Dihaj could’ve done different in order to get her rightful top ten, but at least Azerbaijan this year finally got some points from Norway’s jury and televote xlove

Following the statistical ranking based on the number of countries that have voted for each entry.

(1) Overall (a combined results of jury votes and tele votes)
(2) Jury vote
(3) Tele vote

This is how Azerbaijan has performed:

(1) Overall

- Azerbaijan is still in the 7th place.
- Azerbaijan received jury votes from 6 more countries as compared to tele votes.

(2) Jury vote

- Interestingly, Azerbaijan is the country that received the most votes from the 41 countries. A total of 32 countries (out of 40 excluding themselves).
- But they are the 5th in the final jury vote, which is a difference of 4 places.

(3) Tele vote

- Azerbaijan is in the 8th place for receiving votes from the most number of countries, which is the same as the final jury vote placing.

So all in all, I think we can say Azerbaijan this year can be considered well-loved by both the juries and televoters. No matter how you view the voting results, they will still be in the top 10. So definitely, very well-deserved.

some more nerd-trivia:
AZ has now received these placements: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8. They just need a 6th, 9th and 10th place to make their collection of top 10 placements complete

They also never received the same place twice. I think this s a record in 12 participations.

Actually, there 7th place is due to fake backup jury vote of Belarus. As you may know, the Bottom 10 of their affiliated countries in their allocation pot was used in order to determine the jury vote. If the Top 10 were used, than North Macedonia would be 7th and Azerbaijan 8th. However, if the actual Belarussian jury vote was used, it might as well be, that Azerbaijan finished eventually 7th.

In any case, it feels a bit underrated to me. I would have let Azerbaijan at least pass Norway and Russia and maybe Sweden.

Question is will Azerbaijan keep the momentum the next years? I hope so, but please send songs which feels true to the talented artists you send because Aisel was a missed opportunity. I want to see Aisel in Eurovision again but she's said she doesn't want to do it again, no?

Or the return of the brilliant Dilara Kazimova xlove
