But Innsbruck has some very close tourism resorts which have a lot of empty beds in May.
Sure, but the logistics... You dont really have public transport capable for these masses. In Vienna, you can get everywhere really fast by metro. Vienna got the facilities, the ORF-Staff doesnt have to travel to Innsbruck and general logistics (Hotels, Spaces needed for storing, Halls, AIRPORT, Good Trainconnections) are just much better in Vienna.

Innsbruck is charming, but the airport isnt that well connected, Trains are just going to munich, Zürich and Vienna as well and its also much more expensive there. Graz would be better, but Vienna would be the best honestly.

Do you live in Innsbruck?

I suppose not.

The olympic stadium in Innsbruck has a second stadium just beside it - perfect for press center and TV-infrastructure. There is another sport-center just adjacent which also could be used, there is an outdoor-sport facility (skating in winter) behind it where you have plenty of space for storing AND there is the football stadium also in walking distance where you could have an additional public viewing. So what are you talking about?

The airport is easily reachable and you need 10 minutes to get to the center, respectively to the venue. In Vienna, you need at 25-30 minutes minimum, So what are you talking about?

Trains from Innsbruck also go directly to Naples, Hamburg, Graz, Budapest and have good connecting trains to Paris, Prague, Berlin and Rome. So what are you talking about?

Public transport here is very efficient, because you don't need a metro. You can reach the center from any point of the outskirts in about 15 minutes in most cases even less. Try that in Vienna.
Of course you will need to have additional shuttle services but Innsbruck is used to masses. Not only was the city co-host for the EURO 2008, the world championship for cycling in 2018 and regularly other big sport events, but we are exposed to masses EVERY SINGLE winter.

So: no, I am not your opinion. We had a pretty well offer last time and the only reason Vienna was picked and not Innsbruck was that Vienna made a better funding offer (btw. that will also be one of the decisive factors this year).

Sorry for my rant, but it's my city. ;)

I am not the biggest fan of the song (I still like it, though; it's somewhere near my top 10), but I am genuinely so happy that one of the cutest and friendliest contestants in recent Eurovision history won this year 🫂
Yes, people can say about the song whatever they want, but I cannot see how anyone can deny that JJ is an absolute sweetheart. That was one of the most adorable winning reactions ever, the way he ran to his family and hugged his mom xheart

I used to live in Innsbruck. Public transport is actually good for a city of that size. Aldo the connections around Tirol are very good.

Munich is the next relevant airport and connections there are okay.

The hotel situation in Innsbruck is not good in my opinion. Even if they hosted the Olympics (it was another time back then) and the Euro, in my opinion there are not enough „normal“ hotels. For every second business trip I had to Innsbruck almost the whole city was fully booked…

And I don’t know about the exact capacity of the venue there if there is a Eurovision stage… I feel like only the Stadthalle in Wien is big enough.

Stadthalle in Graz is eben smaller than in Innsbruck. And Graz is nice but out of those three opinions, I‘d not prefer it. Innsbruck and Vienna have got more charme.

In my opinion there is no other realistic option than Vienna or Innsbruck.

Well yes, probably it would work like that. The public transport between city and region is really good there in my opinion.

But it would still not be as good and as short as in Vienna.

Of course both Graz and Innsbruck would be charming but there is a lot that speaks for Vienna:
they probably have the money
involving the vienna state opera makes sense
the jubilee edition of esc needs a grand host city
the expertise with the stadthalle is still fresh
and we know all of the other reasons like infrastructure, arena,....

Congratulations Austria !
You were one of the three countries I have voted for. What a great winner !

Please, also have in mind next year, that Greece (along with Slovenia), gave you this year the most points (20). ;):Dhpurple

I love VIenna and have visited the city with great joy but I wonder were sections of the city destroyed during WWII and not rebuilt?

If so those historic parts should be rebuilt as genuine as possible as they did with the operahouse which was damaged by bombs.

Sadly in the 1800s they probably destroyed many 1700s houses and older to make way for new projects.

When they built Ringstrasse instead of demolishing the city walls they should have kept them like in Rome and built the boulevard outside of the walls. Although that wasnt perhaps possible the destructions of the walls atleast made way for splendor.

The great medieval dome St Stephansdome is surrounded by buildings from the 1800s it would have been much more fitting with the more ancient houses that probably stood in its vicinity earlier but ofcourse that shouldnt be changed now the 1800s buildings are part of Viennas golden age to although I have a affinity for everything older then 1800 or atleast 1815 which are more artisanal . Before the industrial revolution really got going outside of England.

Uhm yeah, so the city wasnt as much destroyed as Berlin for example, but sure, many buildings were bombed. After the war they needed affordable housing for many people, so thats why there are those boring, "ugly" buildings inbetween beautiful 1800s buildings. In general, especially in 1st district, everything is well-kept. Outside of that, Vienna is just a really liveable city with great public transport, affordable, many parks, well functioning and clean.

Congratulations on the very deserved victory :at: xcheer

Finally, my #1 wins after a while and also, without a doubt, the best song of the contest.

I am glad the :rs: audience gave the song 10 points.

Also looking forward to the next ESC. The previous ESC in :at: remained in very good memories and I am sure you will do a great job once more.

Music has won in the end and this is what matters the most.

Good grief. The envy in the comments on the German ESC Kompakt website.

I've tried to follow them this season but ESC Kompakt is such a turn-off in a lot of ways. Their commentators are so passive-aggressive and not really sympathic too bad they sometimes share interesting thoughts but it always takes them way too long to get there.

JJ on the other hand is such a cutie and I am very happy for him (and Teya for the record after her devastating results in 2023). Just watched his stories how he got home. If you compare the scenes of his welcoming on the airport to the IDK-reaction that poor Nemo got last year its a 360° difference.
