For me he lacks stage presence which does concern me with the juries (its possibly more important to them than vocals) but careful staging should hopefully cover that up and carry him.

I don't get why people think he lacks stage presence - to me he has brought a beautiful intimate stage presence

I'm not seeing 'lack of stage presence' either. I don't like the song although vocals are very good.

It’s a really common opinion about this performance on other platforms. He sings the words but doesn’t sing the words like he means it. I would like to see someone like Gjons Tears perform this song.

I think that's a fair comment. In my opinion, if there was anything for JJ to work on, I would say be more expressive when singing. Be more of a performer, not just a singer.

Saying that though, the staging will help a lot with that in pushing the narrative of the song.

The thing is, I am being really, really, picky on this, and I still think JJ will deservedly do extremely well in the contest

Maybe it's because I don't connect to the song emotionally, I enjoy it as a vocal showcase and the melody is also very pleasing to my ear so it's very comfortably in my top 10, but I had to force myself to watch that TV performance just posted as opposed to just closing my eyes and enjoying a song that I find technically very good, so I guess I understand JJ's desire to close his eyes at least. Its thing because I want jj to elevate this song live for me but he's not done that yet, so instead I just prefer listening to it.

I think we shouldn’t mix up the accessibility of the song and his stage presence.

I agree that the song is impressive but not very accessible.

I still don't get your point. You don't know their feelings inside.
To me, JJ is very charismatic.

:8: -> :12: This one grew on me big time and I wouldn't mind seeing it win atp. The staging can still make or break it, but I can now see the winner potential the bubble is on about.

The emotions come through the eyes so if they are closed, how to feel something? HELLO? I was giving constructive criticism.
Not sure if thats a troll post or not.
I completely disagree (and if u need to see somebodys eyes to feel something maybe thats on you)

I dont think they're wrong that a lot of the general audience do connect best to artists and their songs through the eyes, songs with eye contact though the camera tend to do better televote wise than those songs that ignore the camera, though that doesn't mean that the eyes need to be open all the time. It's also true that emotion doesn't just come through the eyes, I don't need to watch a performance of a song I truly connect to emotionally to feel it

That said what I enjoy about wasted love isn't based on emotion, for me I don't connect to this song emotionally (i rarely do when the song is about romance unrequited or otherwise, im aroace so i imagine i am an exception here) and I don't think it would matter if jj opened his eyes more.

I do enjoy it on a purely technical level. It's a very good song and if the performance gives me a wow factor i might vote for it in the final.
