Nowadays, everything is Nemo.

Some German fans also compared Moss Kena (in our NF) to Nemo because of his singing style and outfit in the live shows.
Belgium; Red Sebastian is like Nemo.
Austria is like Nemo.

We will hear and read that very often - remember the time when all acts with a single guitar were automatically a Maneskin rip-off?
Remember the time when a single violin on stage was a copy of Alexander Rybak? - Even 5 years later (e.g. Norway 2014).

Oh, boy, that boy can sing... If he can do it live, it's game over for everyone.

This will absolutely massacre everything else in the jury vote. It might even win on jury points only.

Really guys, I personally love, love, love this song. From the first chorus I had goosebumps like I haven't had for a long time, and from the second chorus I had a tear in my eye. Surprisingly, opera always triggers a lot of emotional reactions in me and here, too, it really touched me and kept me occupied for hours.

I think the “Glorious - Euphoria” phenomenon reappears here, perhaps in a weakened form. Personally, I don't find much similarity, but of course I understand all those who draw this comparison because of the operatic style and therefore see Wasted Love more as a spin-off to The Code.

After the incoherent live productions and mediocre vocal performances of recent years, I have become relatively suspicious of Austria. If JJ doesn't end up singing the song well or it's annoying over the microphones, I also see great FFF potential.

On the other hand, it's a very good sign that there's finally a new creative mind in charge of the production, and it's none other than Sergio Jaén (Ireland 2024).

It looks like ORF is really going all out this time, which I really appreciate.

I find the way he pronounces 'Wasted Love' rather annoying like he's trying too hard to do an English accent

I'm not a fan of either opera or 'popera' so I'll be skipping past it in the playlist.

I'm finding it hard to guess how this would do in the televote. Danger that people won't connect with it perhaps, especially if the staging is overdone or pretentious? Sergio Jaen being involved is good news for it though

You have to love people comparing this to Nemo and then go and drool over a generic bop thats been on repeat for the last 20 years.

ps. on first listen not vibing this one. kinda mid for me right now. but I will be not surprised if it wins.

If the staging is nearly as dramatic as the video then this really could win. it is just pure drama. we wont see anything similar in Basel.

It has been a real grower for me today, I’m upgrading to :8: points. Definitely an entry we can be proud of. It’s not something I’d listen to outside Eurovision but I’m starting to feel it more and more here inside the Eurovision bubble haha.

Btw it’s #1 on YouTube in :at:. That wasn’t the case for every entry in :at: in the past, especially not that fast if I’m right. So there’s already quite some interest and hype around our entry. Nice to see.

So Nemo is back this year, this time for Austria!

Groundbreaking !

But will he be able to win two times in a row? Not quite sure, but who knows?

:10: points

But as for originality ... meh

I wonder if he will be floating on air? Like Josh vibes (if he eventually wins).

Although I think Måns will have the best odds for a win in may, I must say its compelling to at least mention this as a winning candidate too. The last minute is not for me though...

Edit: IF Måns wins Melfest in the first place

"Wasted Love" seems really popular all around. The song is second in the Eurovision scoreboard app, reeeeaaaally close to Finland in #1. It took the lead in the votes on the german ESC Kompakt site. And it's getting good viewing numbers!

Plus, Austria is now #3 in the odds.

Maybe it's just my bias speaking (given that I love the song), but with great staging, I think this can do well with tele too (additionally to potentially winning the jury). It feels like such a likely top 5 right now, and like a true contender for the win. Which is great xheart

I don't really understand the Nemo comparisons? Huh?????????

The Code was wayyyyy more pop-like, energetic and very catchy as well. Meanwhile Wasted Love feels more like a balad/opera... I like both songs (aside from the ending in Wasted Love), but they're really not that similar. At all ;)

I'm on a bit of a negative spree with the UK, Czechia and now... Austria. I wont go too deep into it, but I genuinely hate this. He's clearly a fantastic operatic vocalist, that's without any doubt but I cannot listen to the song in full. It's just far too much for me and nothing in this appeals to me. It's clearly written for an explosive show that the juries will lap up and it's obviously a big contender for victory. It's just not for me. I'd giving it a 1, but this doesn't not deserve to languish down in the depths of my rank with Espresso Machiatto. :3:

Holy crap, his vocals  And besides it's a well-written song. And I got shivers when he's singing those high notes.

The song seems to take some clear inspiration from Switzerland last year. Whether it will bring a similar result? Let's wait and see. I like this one a lot too I think.
