Here's a really interesting article about how WSFÖ turned out this year.

I hope they'll stick to this concept and hire Eberhard Forcher again next year but give him much more time to find good artists and songs.

I think what we should have learned from the previous years is, that our entry should:
- have a distinctive feature, that makes people talk about it. (This is probably the most important point)
- not be a nonsense act or if so, not funny or original in a way that only Austrians get the joke (--> Trackshittaz)
- be original in a sense that the artist is really connected to the song (for instance he/she wrote parts of it, can identify with the message,...)
- have an artist that REALLY WANTS to represent Austria (like Zoe, unlike the Makemakes.) The Makemakes for instance stated in an interview recently, if they would get the chance to represent Austria a second time, they would probably take it even less serious. Now that's the attitude that leads to a last place, even if the song is decent. Zoe oozed her devotion to this task. So did Conchita.
All these features have to be combined in a balanced way. Seeking somebody who is just "crazy" for the sake of making people talk about will probably lead into the opposite direction, for instance.
