:de: Germany final:

7.710.000 (33,3% market share).

The lowest result since 2009, a little bit lower than last year, but with a market share of 42% in the relevant age group of 14-49 a very good result for the ARD and better than last year in that group.

Also a very good result for the ARD in general. It was the day's most watched tv show.

:uk: Final

Average: 6,900,000 viewers
Peak: 8,100,000 viewers

BBC will be pleased with that, it was the most watched show beating out Britain's Got Talent and the numbers increased on last year. Although lower than 2016 and some years before.

Viewing figures in the past years:

2017 - 6.7 million
2016 - 7.2 million
2015 - 6.6 million
2014 - 8.8 million
2013 - 7.7 million
2012 - 7.5 million
2011 - 9.5 million
2010 - 5.8 million

Hungary - 403k (15%) - Weekly ranking: 15.

By far the worst viewing figures in Hungary since we returned in 2011. Last year we had twice as many viewers during the final. I guess there's chance that we will withdraw next year...

Semi-final 1:
ETV (Estonian) 232k (peaked at 292k)
ETV (Estonian) online streaming 13.6-17.5k

ETV+ (Russian) 21k (peaked at 31k)
ETV+ (Russian) online steaming 600-800

Grand final:
ETV 233k (peaked at 300k)
ETV online streaming 18k

ETV+ 24k (peaked at 34k)
ETV+ online streaming 1.4k

And for comparison, Eesti Laul 2018 final on ETV had 248k viewers.

Lowest number of viewers since 2010 (when Anna Bergendahl NQ)
https://www.dagensmedia.se/medier/rorligt/sa-manga-sag-eurovision-finalen-6914285

ESC 2018 final: 2618000 viewers (82%)
ESC2017 final: 2849000 viewers (79%)
ESC2016 final: 3684000 viewers (84%)

It may not show in the figures yet, but I sense a rather dramatic decline in the interest for both Melodifestivalen and Eurovision in Sweden. SVT needs to handle rapid changes in Swedish viewer habits and a completely crashed production of Melodifestivalen. It shouldn't surprise if the viewer figures drop to TV4 Idol levels ~1-1.5 million viewers. If that happens, the economy of the show will change dramatically as well.

But the share is practically the same as the past 2 years, there's less people watching cause people watch less TV. I think in the end the share is more important, 82% is HUGE

You're right I guess. 82% of the viewers chose to watch Eurovision, compared to 79% last year. But then again 1 million viewers chose to do something else then watch television compared to 2016. These could be out gardening or partying, but could also very well be watching Netflix.

Semi with Sweden: 2018: 1.485.000 (2017: 1.337.000, 2016: 1.391.000, 2015: 2.132.000, 2014: 1.736.000, 2013: 1.539.000, 2012: 1.958.000, 2011: 1.573.000, 2010: 1.850.000, 2009: 2.171.000, 2008: 1.972.000)

Semi without Sweden: 2018: 821.000 (2017: 887.000, 2016: 1.462.000, 2015: 1.399.000, 2014: 1.122.000, 2013: 1.250.000, 2012: 1.294.000, 2011: 858.000, 2010: 1.060.000, 2009: 1.168.000, 2008: 1.021.000)

If you compare it with Melodifestivalen, it's clear (once again) that MF is a much bigger deal in Sweden than ESC:

MF'18 - SF1: 3.303.000 , SF2: 2.916.000 , SF3: 2.830.000 , SF4: 2.858.000 , SC: 2.579.000

^ as a Swede and as an ESC fan primarily, and MF fan secondarily, I can't say that these numbers are very satisfying. Eventhough it seems that this year's Semi with Sweden had more viewers than last year's, the trend is still negative. I would really hope SVT could do more to promote ESC and not only focus on MF, although MF is where the big money is. But even in the years we hosted lately (2013 + 2016), the viewership is not as good as one could hope for the semifinals at least. When we have numbers on the final of ESC 2018 I'll add more to this.

Well if it makes you feel any better as ratings are going down right now, it can go up again just like 2015 shows. I guess what you could say from those numbers are is that it depends on what kind of buzz Eurovision created the previous year. Sweden has gotten rather good results for a long time now, and that just might not excite the average viewer anymore. It was different in 2011-2015 (like we see in the ratings) because it was a ''new'' time of Sweden rising from the ashes after a stale 6 years.

Or maybe it's just the fact that three years in a row now we've sent songs that obviously haven't taken any risks

So, this is the worst result of final ever. TVP needs to find great performer in 2019 who can qualify. ;)
