Weather has been good in the last couple days so I'm slowly shifting into spring/summer mood, which is reflected in my song selection for this edition of the WLSC.

Here's a summery mid-high tempo easy breasy bop with lots of percussion & classical turkish pop arrengements and beachy vibes.

* He turned on me & it became an offense to love me

** Carnations are very common throughout Turkey and has many meanings. Reminiscence of a loved one is one of them. Traditionally put on the lapels or left side of the chest right above the heart, especially at funerals. A possible meaning here is the singer wishing her ex to mourn for their lost love.

*** The sentence does not go on but it's safe to assume that the singer was eager to count the days and the months and years after their break up.

**** Although "How old you are now?" is the most obvious and direct translation for "Kaç oldun?" (in line with the previous line of counting years) it's possible that it has different meanings on different untranslateble levels, indicating the narcissism or selfishness of the singer's ex. The wordplays and levels and levels of meanings in songs and poems are mindboggling to translate so I won't even start lol.

***** Again, layers of meaning. One possible and obvious meaning is that the passing years left the singer and her ex on very different paths, leading very different lives.

****** "Kurunun yanında yaş da yanar" Turkish proverb. Direct translation is "whatever damp will also burn alongside the dry." This proverb means that the guilty people often take the innocent down with them. Here's the singer stating that her ex was the guilty one in the relationship but she payed the price as well by being hurt.

HOST CITY AND VENUE:
RTVTD has announced that the city of Porta Pera will host WLSC 236. The city, also known by its English name Pearwood Port, is the second largest in the country after Stellchard with a population of roughly 93000 people, and is located on the western coast of Deltannor. The city is an important trade hub for Tamausia & Deltannor as it provides a gateway to the continents of Galea and Graseer. The main industries which have helped Porta Pera prosper are it's shipbuilding and fishing industries, as well as the trade of the fruit and wood of the Deltannese Pear trees that are native to the area and from which the city derives its name. The original port of Pearwood was captured and pillaged by Aimullian raiders led by Thorald and Skap Arnsson during the Tamausian-Aimullian war, after which it was rebuilt into the thriving city that stands today.

​

The venue for the contest will be the 10500-seater Opèra Deltannesa. The opera and concert hall is the largest of its kind outside Stellchard and is used to host performances from the biggest stars and other cultural events. It is located on the seafont, just outside the centre of Porta Pera.
