Re: Áfram Ísland! | WV 74: Sigur Rós - Dauðalogn

Thanks for supporting Sigur Rós' celestial masterpiece "Dauðalogn" xcheer

Now I am looking forward to the final and hope I can continue the positive record of Sigur Rós in Worldvision (6th, 8th and 13th)

Some announcements: As matters stand now my next two entries will be decided through National Finals. Yes, you read correctly. The good old Söngvakeppnins are gonna return

For WV 75 I plan to make a Female Artists NF.
Whaaat? ShoeFlo can not into female singers. Did Staewi take over again?
No, no.. I actually can into female singers. But it's certainly true that I usually send male singers/artists. My female rate is devastating. I found out only 6 out of my 35 entries were sung by women.
Every night some feminist groups circle my house and protest against me and my shameless chauvinistic behaviour. They are agressive and they throw eggs at my windows. Moreover they have bullhorns that keep me awake night over night. In fact, I didn't sleep for a couple of days.
So I will show you guys the best girl power Iceland can offer.
Will Björk take part?
I can't say yet. Not a big fan of her music but ofc in the next couple of days I will dig a bit deeper into the discography of some Icelandic artists to be sure that I don't miss any gem so who knows what I'm gonna decide. Expect a National Final of 6 songs... that's my usual scope for NFs

For WV 76 I might do a little NF including 3 songs of one band. It's a band that was kinda successful in a mid-40s edition.

Re: Áfram Ísland! | WV 74: Sigur Rós - Dauðalogn

This will be like a big reveal, but oh well... I have to write something here

First of all, big congrats for reaching the final Flo! This was one of those few times that I cared more for a song of someone other than my own song... As you already know, Dauðalogn is a very important song for me and which has a very deep place in my heart. And I am of course very happy and relieved for you because I know very well your feelings about it and how much it means to you and therefore how much you wanted to reach the final with it. In the ranking of my all-time-favorite songs, Dauðalogn would be placed in my Top 5... and consequently it's one of my top 3 all-time-favorite WV songs as well. I think this is the best proof of how much I love it... which is an understatement, but I don't know if there is a stronger word. I still remember when I heard this song for the first time, it was maybe one year ago or so.. I don't know if any song had such an impact on me on the first listening. I clearly remember that I had a stomachache from too much goosebumps. And to this day, I still have the same feelings about it. In the meantime, it has just become even more special for me... it's so moving and pure and it just comes out as so powerful that sometimes I can hardly resist not to cry when I hear it. It makes me very emotional... I write this in a positive way of course. This song just resonates with every molecule of my body and it's like a simply perfect song. Like everything that comes out of the Sigur Rós studio. An everlasting piece of otherworldly beauty. Slayguróssing experience. In a world where I would have to pick a religion instead of being an atheist, I would pick sigurrósianity as my religion and this song would be its prayer. Jónsi is like from another planet anyway... I don't write my deep feelings openly very often but this was surely a good opportunity to do so.

xlove

Best of luck in the final!

Oh my gosh..what beautiful words you chose here. I can agree with everything you wrote. I can see how this love letter comes from the bottom of your heart. This song really makes me wanna believe in god (and this defies all my principles) because it sounds so otherworldly... I am happy I chose this song. Actually I wanted to send my SR songs chronologically as you know but I broke this rule just for this song... for me I think its meanwhile in the same category as Hoppipolla and Starálfur. Also, thanks for your wishes for the final

Re: Áfram Ísland! | WV 74: Sigur Rós - Dauðalogn

Söngvakeppnin 75: #GirlsFirst edition - The coldest National Final ever

Welcome to another Söngvakeppnin National Final. We are looking for Icelands WV 75 artist and as you know we decided in beforehand that it should be a female vocalist or band with female vocalists. This sounds totally hot but actually it isn't. The Icelandic singers can't perform half-naked while shaking their asses cause they would freeze immediately. Sad story

When it comes to chosing the artists I decided to go the easy path. That means I simply choose those singers/bands I've used to listen before instead of trying to get to know some other artists I'd never been into. I didnt call this NF the "coldest NF ever" for no reason. I realized most songs here have a very very cold feeling and you can literally feel it on your skin while you listen to it. At the same time, they are quite fascinating and inspiring.

You will notice that I left my cozy comfort zone of Pot F friendly songs in some cases and took some risks. Icelandic artists, especially the female ones, love to go electronic and experimental.. playing with different types of sound effects and whatsoever.
What kind of genres do I offer you? Synth-Pop, a Ballad, Experimental pop, something I cant define that becomes rocky at the end, some spooky ballad, more rock. Two of the songs I already sent in National Finals before #omg #whyareyousouncreative #wehateyouwhiteshoes but seriously, this is a long time ago(WV 46 and WV 51) and many of you didn't even take part yet or forgot them already  and according to my experience giving songs a second chance can pay off.

Two artists, Sóley and Emiliana Torrini have quite many interesting songs. Especially Emiliana is veeery eclectic and she can nearly everything from ballad to folk to synth-pop to up-tempo.. so I think some of these girls are gonna return in a later edition. Not very soon, though.

The Songs

1. Vök - Before

Here my tiny sympathy for some kind of electronic songs is showing up (maybe some people caught me listening to Grimes, Caribou or The Naked and Famous before). This must be the first time I go electronic in WorldVision but it doesn't feel wrong. This is a catchy and captivating little synth-pop candy. I hope you enjoy

2. Myrra Ros - One Amongst Others

Myrra Ros is a rather unknown talented singer who really knows how to make calming and soft pop songs/ballads with beautiful and subtle instrumentation. Her voice is lovely too. Btw, she doesn't have anything to do with Sigur Rós.

3. múm - Underwater Snow

múm is a band who is active for a long time already and built up some reputation over the years. They make experimental pop, using all possible electronic beats and effects and everything what makes sounds... they are famous for their high-pitched vocals.
This is one of their newer songs

4. Mammút - Ströndin

Mammút is in my opinion one of the best Icelandic bands for alternative rock music. I've known this song for quite a while already and it was in my NF for WV 51 but lost to Tilbury. Love this cold and rough atmosphere throughout the whole song. That's Iceland.

5. Sóley - Kill The Clown

This song was in my first NF ever and became 6th. Out of 6. But that was a strong NF with artists such as Agent Fresco, Ásgeir, Low Roar and Mono Town. I love how spooky and mysterious this song is, moreover the piano kills me.

6. Emiliana Torrini - Gun

Emiliana is known for her hyper up-tempo song Jungle Drum and her Gollum theme in Lord of The Rings. This is one of her rare excursions to the world of old school rock. The guitar chord throughout the whole song is just mindblowing. Would love to see a song like this in WV.

The Voting

Please rate every song from 1 (utter crap) to 10 (amazing). No ranking. Just rate every song individually.

Thank you in advance and I hope you will have fun! xcheer xrose

Re: Áfram Ísland! | WV 74: Sigur Rós - Dauðalogn | WV 75: National Final GIRLS EDITION

As previously announced here is my detailed Thank-you-post for this edition

:is: Sigur Rós - Dauðalogn - 6th place, 162 pts :is:

:12: :de: :se:en ::berl :kr: :sc:
:10: :paci:
:8: :dk: ::blgr :neus:
:7: ::saus  :pt: :svea: ::uusi

:5: ::tata
:4: IOTAP
:3: :pl: :ch: :br:
:2: :at:ti :lv:
:1: :ca: :ph: ::emro

6th place, what a wonderful result! I expected a place around 10, so this is beyond my expectations. Great to see that Sigur Rós is consistently doing well in WV. 8th, 6th, 13th, 6th... if we hire some more people from NSC they could fight for the Top 3 one day xthink
What makes me very happy are the 5 :12: I received... that's quite a lot. I knew before that one 12 is 99,9% safe and I thought I can be satisifed with maybe one more 12 in this strong final... 5 is overwhelming though. Actually it would 6 :12: since Kai's brain wanted to give me 12 as well. It's a shame that the other parts of his body (such as his heart) messed it up. He should really get rid of them or his brain should get independent from him and join WV by itself.
The most wonderful surprises were the 12 from Robert (cause I usually struggle with winning his heart with my song and end up getting low points from him) and of course the 3 points from Liza cause usually she doesn't like my songs at all and it's a beautiful compliment getting points from her especially with my favorite band of the world. Thanks for that!
So...

Now I'd like to recall my National Final to your mind

First of all, thanks Krishoes for your interesting and brutally honest voting xcheer I'd like to return the favour when you post a National Final

Sadly, he is the only voter so far. I would love to get some more votings in the next couple of days. I can't announce a deadline for this NF yet, I guess it will be at 23:59 in the day before the submission deadline. Of course, in the next few days I will take myself some time to check out your NFs too and help you with my voting. Luckily I have enough time at the moment.

I just mention some users who usually vote in my NFs daniels1000 JamieBrown lavieenrose (ju lutem!) I am also interested in getting votings from people who usually don't vote in my NFs.. maybe I will come up with more scandalous mentions tomorrow

You didn't answer me, so I have just sent you NF votes by male strip-o-gram. He'll be at your door soon with my ratings.
The currently second best WV player says thank you to the best WV player for his wonderful voting. I enjoyed every single word of this little novel you sent to me.
Be prepared for a long reply.. someday... when I've got time for that xheat

and ofc I just didn't answer on your question cause fax, pigeon and singagram are equally amazing and I just couldn't make a decision. If the pigeon was a swan it would be an easy choice though.

Re: Áfram Ísland! | WV 75: National Final GIRLS EDITION

Alright everybody... At the moment the leader of this NF is in a seemingly comfortable lead but still only one voting can change everything. That's why I want YOU, exactly, my finger is pointing at YOU, to VOTE in this NF with the view of destroying the current result and to go down in history as a NF destroyer. Of course I am eager to know what you guys actually think about my selection as it's a bunch of risky and fascinating and interesting songs. The hot phase of this NF is yet to come... only two more days until the deadline and I am pretty excited:

Now I mention some of you... ZoboCamel Eulaliya Nicholas123 Salmon (pleeease) maybe even revallsay and King Valentino

Thanks a lot
