Or it is very bland and dirge-like anyway.

Azerbaijan AZERBAIJAN 2024 - Fahree ft. Ilkin Dovlatov - Özünlə Apar

This seems very underrated here. Obviously worth well more than a 6. I suspect Mati Hari was much more liked here yet I think that was a weak dance song in a year with some great ones.

Serbia SERBIA 2024 - Teya Dora - Ramonda

May as well say it as Džanum gets mentioned sometimes but it's nothing like as good as Ramonda which has more of a journey. Džanum in comparison is more of a mood piece.

Croatia CROATIA 2024 - Baby Lasagna - Rim Tim Tagi Dim

People compare it to Cha Cha Cha but I think it might be better. The rhythm part is more interesting to me, I like the change up towards the end as well. And the melody in the chorus instead of being bubblegum has more of a rock-pop feeling. Cha Cha Cha aimed more at camp with the stage...

Estonia ESTONIA 2024 - 5miinust & Puuluup - (nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi

Nothing like the same. Listening today the 24 entry just sounds like some kind of village folk song, but with nothing distinctive. LT United is a very catchy singalong song that might be sung at a party.

    Slovenia SLOVENIA 2024 - Raiven - Veronika

Perhaps you could see them as modernised Balkan ballads.

Austria AUSTRIA 2024 - Kaleen - We Will Rave

That's the style of music with Bambi Thug. Halo is quite repetitive really.

Czech Republic CZECHIA 2024 - Aiko - Pedestal

I heard someone saying it's punk style, compared to Bambi Thug it's really not that gripping. The chorus is so dull. The episode towards the end is ok, kind of like Dizzy's episode maybe, but doesn't really fit with it or really change the overall song (as with Dizzy).

    Slovenia SLOVENIA 2024 - Raiven - Veronika

I don't think either is pretentious. The Swiss song however still feels a melodramatic mess to me, it reaches beyond what it has the ability to do, which would be a good definition of pretentiousness.

Israel ISRAEL 2024 - Eden Golan - Hurricane

As we can see they (not just general Israelis or supporters but those involved in the song itself) are using it as a platform and are being allowed to. Meanwhile the other side can't have a platform. How can that end well? As I said before songs on universal topics are likely to be more...

Serbia SERBIA 2024 - Teya Dora - Ramonda

Obviously great. The Isreali song sounds flat and cold compared to this. The rising section sounds familiar like I've heard a similar idea elsewhere, but that's fine because it works here in how it's presented. The climax is kept back well, and it has the confidence in itself to end quietly...

    Slovenia SLOVENIA 2024 - Raiven - Veronika

This definitely doesn't need drastic changes. I find the climax at the end good. It's unfortunate the more mainstream sounding Belgian song gets praised so much and this appears not to be because this has more potential.

Austria AUSTRIA 2024 - Kaleen - We Will Rave

The chorus lets it down for me, so much so I wish it didn't come back the final time. The strident nature of it annoys me in the end. Maybe the dance break music isn't that great either, but the rest of the song is nice. So overall frustrating, certainly not anything like as good as last...

The Netherlands NETHERLANDS 2024 - Joost Klein - Europapa

Obviously in contention for best dance song of this Eurovision. No real problem with the music, except possibly for the end of the music video with the quiet ending which feels tagged on. I noticed that it's not in the audio only version though and it would probably take it over 3 minutes...

Israel ISRAEL 2024 - Eden Golan - Hurricane

There's a strange dichotomy between the verse and chorus. I don't feel much emotion in the verse so it ends strangely with it. It's like it's all put into the chorus but it feels dirge-like dragging out the melody and repeating it. Israelis say its amazing but probably because of what they...

Take out Liar and put in Titan, then you have the 3 main flop girls.

Georgia GEORGIA 2024 - Nutsa Buzaladze - Firefighter

I don't agree at all. Liar has some contrast in its verse - bridge - chorus structure. And the chorus works quite well after the contrast.

Greece GREECE 2024 - Marina Satti - Zari

Not completely convinced by this, though I may like it a little more following on from the initial experience. It feels more like a performance piece than a song overall, with quite a few stops and starts. I'm not a big fan of reggaeton or the combination of electric dance and folk, but that...

Australia AUSTRALIA 2024 - Electric Fields - One Milkali (One Blood)

Not that keen on this. There is a groove and the production is probably meant to be the main attraction as it can feel repetitive. I can't help but feel that it's a message song in relation to Indigenous Voice referendum of 2023. I prefer something with more music to it. Maybe it's...

Malta MALTA 2024 - Sarah Bonnici - Loop

I'm one of those that doesn't like the revamp. I find it relentless and tiring, just like Firefighter is but flowing less. A desperate revamp in response to largely unfair criticism. It's very different now but not in a good way, being so overproduced that it hardly moves with decent energy...
