Lies, damned lies and statistics! I actually prefer 2024 at the moment. There are a few 2023 winners there that I like but don't love. Then there are some 2024 entries that are miles ahead of what went last year (:nl: :pl: and :ch: for example). Also, Mimicat wins :pt: by a whisker but I love both!

I always feel iffy about grouping together huge gaps ("this country was my #2 last year and my #34 this year!") with slight gaps ("I gave this country a high 6 last year and a low 6 this year"), so let's do it like this...

...Oh. I was going to say "let's give 2 points to a year for each clear winner, and 1 point for each slight winner, then add it up and see who comes out on top," but it's clear from a look that they're exactly even at the moment, lmao. Well, that's that, I guess!

I can't recall all the 2023 ESC songs and I'm not going to go back and listen to them again, so I'm going to compare ESC 2024 to JESC 2023 of which I still have 6 songs on my MP3 player :fr: :es: :am: :de: :ge: :ee:.
By the law of averages I should by now have heard at least 2 songs from ESC 2024 which measure up to those 6 songs. And have I? No. 7th :gr: , 8th :cy:, yes, but nothing that equals those top 6 songs from 2023 that I still listen to at least weekly.
It does not look good for ESC 2024.
