I never hear Eurovision songs in the wild especially living in Japan, so Dizzy was the last thing I expected to hear shopping for shoes yesterday in Tokyo. Inclined to think Olly is coming for that Rest of the World vote!
To be clear, I wasn’t talking about NQ because I’m sure we can agree that Finland are likely sailing through with this. But after last year, winning seems to the priority for them so it would make sense for there to be a greater focus on jury influence in UMK next year to better align with the...
Surely UMK need to tweak the 75%-25% weightings next year, because if they’re serious about winning Eurovision rather than just qualifying then the current system is only going to perpetuate novelty acts going through that don’t even stand a chance of actually winning.
I’m sure Gåte will still do really well but I can’t help but feel whatever result they achieve in May, KEiiNO would have done even better. It’s also a bitter pill to swallow considering they would’ve won had the results been 50-50. Still, can’t complain too much, just sad for KEiiNO again.
Very questionable decision-making to have Super Rob close and KEiiNO open. I was quite convinced KEiiNO would edge Gåte in the televote but now I’m not so sure.
I think I’m still not writing off Erika and Rob either but after the performance it’s hard to favor them over both KEiiNO and Gåte, especially since Gåte likely won the semi. Based purely off stats alone, KEiiNO ought to be the front runners when you consider Damdiggida currently has double the...
I understand the agenda but I’m just extremely unconvinced that this was the best choice. There needs to be more of a balance between the unconventional and the accessible to be competitive and I just think some people are too eager to embrace the former for the sake of diversity. Even in a...
Probably an unpopular opinion but I still feel like Ollie is the one with the most ESC potential. For me, 5Miinust is just a chaotic mess and even if it does landslide the Eesti Laul televote, it’s too local and disjointed and I don’t see it being the ESC televote magnet people think it is.
Judge Tenderly of Me was one of my favourites of the selection and I’m not surprised it went through in a field with so many left field songs. My other take away from tonight is KEiiNO have this in the bag now. Time to brace for the backlash in 2 weeks time.
Teresa & Maria and then Tsunamia for me. Either would be top 10 locks given how memorable and impactful they could be. Not wild about any of the others myself and can’t really see anything else winning really.
I hate to say it but I just don’t see how some of these messy songs will work at Eurovision let alone at the Late Late Show. I’m all for more diversity and doing away with bland inoffensive pop but none of them are competitive. I think the best bet is either Erica-Cody or Next In Line but it’s...
