And I can move on from here
How simple, life goes on
Humble, that's how I feel
Sparking hot flames, holding on
Younger days run so clear
Through my mind, replaying my crime
Tearing me up, spreading fear
Obsession in my own time

What life's taken away, I'm not missing
Will I sit back and sigh?
A thunder of thoughts, I'm dismissing
Too scared to even try

And in time I've always known
I'm never in the safety zone
I took the fight, but was I right?
They were sending me to war
And in time I've always known
I'm never in the safеty zone
I took the fight, but was I right?
They wеre sending me to war

My intention is strong and real
Only power steels my will
The illusion of safety's surreal
Don't let it go for the kill

What life's taken away, I'm not missing
Will I sit back and sigh?
A thunder of thoughts, I'm dismissing
Too scared to even try

And in time I've always known
I'm never in the safety zone
I took the fight, but was I right?
They were sending me to war
And in time I've always known
I'm never in the safety zone
I took the fight, but was I right?
They were sending me to war

I don't want to take on the pain
So, I go seek inner signs, or a calling
The more freedom I gain
The less real life I'm recalling

Wow! Thank you for sharing this with us! What a great delegation and artist indeed!

I wish there was a place for Victoria in the Top 10 since the song is so freaking beautiful but on the other hand, I can totally understand why the other tracks have been ranked above her in the end.

Still, I am super grateful for Victoria and Bulgaria taking part because she's clearly one of the few artists from this year I will continue to follow - her EP is divine and I can't wait for her upcoming releases!

I’m so proud and thankful of the Bulgarian team. In a country where Eurovision is far from been that popular, where people criticize absolutely everything ( yes, many people, even News Host on the biggest TV made fun of Victoria), they keep such a passion and love for the contest. That’s why i keep supporting them, not cause of the sake of a country! One of the strongest delegations for the last years, keep rolling! ❤️

OK Bulgarian team and sponsor continue to surprise me... seriously one of the best delegations there is. Here is what the sponsors/the delegation had to say:

"Eurovision is a contest where we face a great competition. Even if you do your best, chances are that there will be even better than you. So, we accept that reality and we are trying to become better and better. We are extremely satisfied by the results."

"Now we will discuss with our partners, we hope to find the right approach and move forward to the next level. We will also try to extend the partnerships, so that we can continue to participate."

"Overall, we are looking for candidates who can perform on stage, who will bring quality and will contribute to the contest, and will represent our country with dignity. There is no price tag for these requirements."

"During the contest this year we had record-breaking engagement by our viewers, especially when participating in the voting. The Italian and French songs were the clear highlights for the Bulgarian viewers. We are happy that such songs are the preferred choice of our viewers"

"We had the honour to be taking part in the strongest Eurovision Song Contest in the past several years with a lot of music diversity and quality. We congratulate RAI for the more than deserved win and all the other contestants for making this such a strong competition"

"Of course, finances are not the primary concern. In 2019 we also had proposals for private funding but from candidates we didn´t find suitable. Eventually, we decided to withdraw instead of participating just for the sake of participation."

MASSIVE respect for the last statement!

they didn't miss the point of the contest in any of the statements.. I'm so proud of them!

I'm curious about what proposals they got in 2019 that they didn't think were "suitable"?

I see people applaud their approach, and while I also do to some extent, I feel that they are clearly looking down at certain genres *chalga* and have this mentality about what they consider "quality". I will not dig too deep into that, but I think it can also backfire to walk with the noses too high and rely on Swedish products while closing the door to locals.

This is the common theme in the Balkans, especially with national broadcasters; and such approach will not change in a near future (or at all honestly).
Yeah, I've noticed... Although the Serbian broadcaster isn't as harsh though, sure they still didn't pick a full-on Turbo-folk entry but they had some in Beovizija at least and they are at least no stranger to having entries with ethnic elements, the Bulgarian one seems to be totally ashamed though but importing Swedish entries imo is more shameful.

Well, tbh we were represented by a popular and loved chalga singer(Sofi Marinova) and she is even a gypsy herself, so that was quite a bold move. Although everyone loves Sofia. Hahaha

Yeah I know, and as much as I love that entry, it wasn't in the style she normally would sing. Desislava also entered the same NF, also with an entry that didn't sound like something she normally would do at all, so I feel like BNT back then wanted to try to come across as "open" to these acts (as long as they didn't sound like themselves ).

The thing is people in Bulgaria are listening to this kind of music, but wants to pretend in front of Europe that this is too cheap for their taste. 🤣🤣🤣 Azis has maybe 1B views in Youtube combined yet many are feeling ashamed we are famous with someone like him. I feel like the Bulgarian team will go crazier next year, something like this: they will take a homeless man from the streets calling him “The homeless man” and will make him perform on the biggest stage in Europe.😀 Or going back to “Voda” style, more realistic.

Sorry, but I fell in love with another Bulgaria than Sofi Marinova and Voda (though I love Sofi)...

Yeah, it may not be authentic to their music scene completely but Victoria and Kristian actually sing those types of songs so it's not completely unauthentic imo and they are also a part of the new Bulgarian scene which I prefer by a large mile to "balkan" Bulgaria.

Azis is quite extreme though (or was at least), so I can "get" why BNT would be hesitant showing up that side to Europe (although he was a background singer in Eurovision already, but I guess times changed ).

But you are making a point that there is a discrepancy between what Bulgarians listen to and how BNT want to portray the country in Eurovision. I still think a banger chalga entry with a good singer/performer would give Bulgaria a good result (especially with televoters).

yeah but with juries they would flop as Hurricane did... At least with the path they're on rn they can win, they will never win with a banger entry... :(

I can feel next year they will try to make Bulgarians more involved in the contest ( choosing something they gonna like and famous singer) rather than trying to win. Ratings and interest bringing sponsors.Still quality of course.

I just hope for an NF if we get that I will be happy, it will be a nice change of pace and let us be more involved in choosing the entry, I am hopeful for 2022 and expect big things.

First of all, BNT can't afford Azis. They can't even afford the participation fee, hence the need of a sponsor every year.

But since 2016, Bulgaria really wants to win and they seem to be on the mindset that they'll need an English song for that. So for '22 I'm expecting another internally selected dark/sad pop entry, though they might aim for a more televote friendly song.

and I'm completely satisfied with this... don't know why some people online (not really here) are complaining about Bulgaria when it's hands down one of the countries (along with Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Portugal, Ukraine) constantly serving quality.

Yeah idk how true is that, BNT always make excuses but whatever, also no I fully expect that they will actally go into the total opposite direction and will send something more daring and in Bulgarian in 2022. They also understand that internal selections are a good temporary solution but in the long run it won't turn out good.

Just hope the sponsors will stay as it seems otherwise BNT just won't even try, they just don't have intetrest to participate it seems, anyways if the sponsors stay with the great team and delegation we have I am expecting something really good but who knows? We'll see what will happen I guess.
