I expected a contender for the bottom in my ranking against :by: but it's not bad! I like the James Bond vibe. However I'm not really impressed and it's too diva-cliché for me. :4: points.

I actually thought Conchita was a real woman with a beard and told all my friends. Oh how the egg has flung back to my face

You know what it would be hilarious, if Russia gives Austria 12 points. It's totally not going to happen, but you never know. It really stands out (with or without the beard).

Uhm, actually Nadine was an attention seeker showcasing her voice to the best of her abilities. She was very successful with me. ;) At least her act was about the music.

Btw. did it ever occur to a female ESC singer to perform with a fake beard?

No I probably wasn't clear enough :), what I meant was that I liked Nadine because it was about her fantastic voice and the music, this year Austria have decided not to do this which is unfortunate.

OM*G! I didn't expect to like this song at first. Considering some snippets of her other work, it was a clear 'middle-meh' contestant for me. But boy, I was wrong. I love this. It's simply great and I can see this growing on some people if they only give it a chance. ;)

I've listened to the song for the first time tonight. Very majestic and peaceful. The music is impressive and carries the whole song. It would be even more impressive if the voice lasts longer in the powerful music moments. Overall impression: 4 points.

Not one of my favorites at all (gave 3 points), but I hope, that Austria can qualify for the final because I like Conchita as a person.

I'm looking forward to Conchita's first live performance of the song tonight(?). I'm hoping for loads of wide apart arm movements in the style of Shirley Bassey, the queen of rising arms. I'm also wondering what the staging will be like for Eurovision? As you can hear, Conchita doesn't sing with any backing so it would be a powerful move to have her on stage alone with some really sophisticated lighting. I was thinking a black and white colour theme with silhouette graphics on a screen behind to play on the Bond similarities.

I also think it wouldn't make sense to have other people on stage. Conchita is the queen and she will fill the stage alone. Lights are the best thing they can bet on to enhance the performance.

She's certainly someone who should be able to fill a stage by themselves. All we need is a good vocal delivery and good lighting as you say and she should be in for a very high placing. There hasn't been a better time recently for a more empowering song with such a message.

The only thing that's going to go against her is the new way jury and public votes are combined because there will no doubt be some countries placing her at the bottom of their jury vote due to prejudice.

I am more afraid of how the televoters will treat Conchita. I am hoping the juries will listen to the song and forget about the fact that a "bearded lady" is singing. For the televoters that see and hear this for the first time - I am sure all they will remember is the singer...

I have faith in the public, even in countries where Conchita will be controversial. The power of her song and message will win through. Some dodgy juries could absolutely wreck her though. Five people will be given an insane amount of power and all it will take is for them to give her an undeserved last place and she'll be wrecked no matter what the public decide to give her. I have a feeling she'll be really high up in the televote overall.

Cezar was a strange, well performed act of last year that had the public support but the jury destroyed him. I imagine he would have been top 5 with the televote. I'm imagining similar circumstances with Conchita but i'm hoping the songs empowering message will raise her higher.

I hop you're right. Austria is a superb effort and deserves all the credit in the world. The public may have a quick moment of "What's going on here?" Moment but if Conchita doesn't f it up that night I truly believe she has a really good shot at taking home good result.

I still think she can win. At least i'm enjoying envisioning it in my mind. With all the dreadful, sad, backwards stuff going on in the world at the moment regarding rights etc.. a Conchita win would just be so powerful. I was ready to dismiss this entry but I was instantly won over. For me it's the best song of the year (I can't say it loud as it's sinful coming from a Valentina fan). I just hope she delivers it well live. Quality entry!

I said the same thing in the Norwegian thread but it applies here, too. Imagine having a live orchestra like in the old Eurovision days.....this would elevate this song to new heights......
