Today we’re moving ahead with the second rehearsals over in Basel, and whose turn is it today? Well, it’s Semi-final 2 (last 7), for their second rehearsals! So, let’s see how they did, shall we?
🇬🇪 Georgia
Mariam is giving a whole new name to the term “powerful ballad”, right? She’s walking confidently down the Basel stage, showcasing that incredible vocal range, while the smoke envelopes her dancers who match the grandeur of the song itself. This feels like classic Eurovision in all the best ways. Cinematic and grand, just like it’s supposed to be. Good job, Georgia!
🇩🇰 Denmark
And what an upgrade this seems to be for Denmark, just as we suspected from those rehearsal photos. Sissal really knows how to work the stage (and wind machines!). The blue and pink lights almost fight for dominance as the high notes of “Hallucination” bring us to our feet, lasers galore! We’re ecstatic to see more of it!
🇨🇿 Czechia
Adonxs has a real vision when it comes to “Kiss Kiss Goodbye” and we’re here for every moment of it. From the camera angles that effortlessly follow him, to the slick costumes and even better vocals. Adonxs is on another level with the second rehearsal! Bold eyeliner, dramatic notes and a lot of charisma – Czechia has a lot to be proud of!
🇱🇺 Luxembourg
Laura Thorn perfectly encapsulates that doll visual as she takes center stage. In the gentle pink dress and the dollhouse LED backdrop, she is a whole moment! The dancers have a routine that remind us of puppeteering, which makes sense given the theme of the song. Everything looks very complimentary to the track and the performance, and we feel like “La Poupée Monte Le Son” will be one of those that entries that subtly tells a whole story to the wider auditorium that anyone will be able to grasp, regardless of the language it’s sung in. Let’s go!
🇮🇱 Israel
In addition to the big prop we mentioned before, Yuval seems to have all these graphics to support the performance. What we didn’t see from the rehearsal photos are these enthralling waterfalls on the LED behind her, which do add a different dimension to the overall staging. The vocals are as strong as we suspected they would be, and we have no doubt “New Day Will Rise” will be slick and polished.
🇷🇸 Serbia
As the Serbian delegation shared with the viewers, the performance represents the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, and now it’s all coming together to make sense. The dance routine is specific to the story itself, the visuals are in bright reds and blacks, painting this story in a very creative manner, and Princ’s vocals are impressive considering all the movement and the storyline. Give us that powerful Balkan ballad, Serbia!
🇫🇮 Finland
Erika Vikman, the woman you are! No one does a confident strut like Finland does this year, and we’re all here for it! The vocals on “Ich Komme” are as stable and strong as ever, she is confident in the performance, the pyros are working in her favor and the costume with the studded details are adding to the intensity of her presence. What a time to be alive!
We’re almost there, folks! Come back tomorrow for more insight into the Big 5 countries + Switzerland and see where that takes us!
