Germany have been misfiring for a few years despite a new, bold and star-studded approach to the contest. Perhaps it’s just the wrong songs being chosen? You decided on a singer to save German hopes, but who could it be?

Schlager star Helene Fischer is the overwhelming favourite for Germany
Schlager star Helene Fischer is the overwhelming favourite for Germany

Despite the large number of suggestions for Germany there was only ever one winner in this contest. Schlager queen Helene Fischer is a massively popular artist on our site and with Eurovision fans across the world so it comes as no surprise she is the #1 choice for our readers to fly the Bundesflagge in Stockholm.

One of Fischer’s most recent hits “Atemlos durch die Nacht” shows that the German brand of schlager is still immensely popular and her high-sale career may prove to be the catalyst needed for another German success at Eurovision – but would she prove popular with everyone?

Second in the poll was shared between Ivy Quainoo and former Unser Song participants MarieMarie (2014) and Laing (2015). Other popular names in our poll included 2015’s nul-pointer Ann Sophie, internationally known artists Milky Chance and Rammstein and reigning Bundesvision champions Revolverheld. Will we see any of these names performing in 2016’s German selection?

The full suggestions for Germany (draws in random order);
