Belarus has become the 22nd confirmed participant in Eurovision 2016.

Belarus has become the latest country to confirm its participation in Stockholm next spring despite a disappointing exit at the semi-final stage in 2015.

The ex-USSR country has taken part in each edition of the contest since its semi-final expansion in 2004 but has achieved no higher than sixth place, which was gained by Dima Koldun’s “Work Your Magic” in 2007. Belarus has generally not been as successful as its neighbours having only reached the final on four occasions and failing to qualify with Uzari and Maimuna in 2015.

TVR has not confirmed its intended selection process but it is likely to be another national final, potentially towards the end of 2015. Belarus joins 2016 as the 22nd confirmed participant.

Who will we see sing for Belarus in 2016? Time will tell, but Elena Sinyavskaya is our readers’ favourite, as previously revealed.
