Gabe Milne

Gabe comes to us from the UK and is also a moderator for the ESCUnited forum page. However, most ESCUnited fans will know Gabe from our YouTube channel, where he usually joins Matt to comment on current events, Eurovision rehearsals, or recommend changes to the UK’s approach to the contest.

Tell me about your first Eurovision memory?

2008, aged 11, I walk into the living room and my mum says “look at this rubbish”. That rubbish was Rodolfo Chikilicuatre. I fell in love with the contest instantly.

What’s your favourite Eurovision song?

Zlata Ognevich – Gravity. The voice, the staging, the song, everything. Perfection.

What are some of your favourite musicians outside of Eurovision?

I actually listen to a lot of Prog Rock/Metal outside of Eurovision. Some of my favourites are Arch Echo, FROST* and Haken. Also not prog – Carly Rae Jepsen and Faouzia.

What about your favourite food?

Spaghetti and meatballs but only if it’s my mum making it.

Do you have a favourite place to visit?

I used to live in St Petersburg and spent most of my time either eating falafel or singing karaoke on Ulitsa Rubinshteina. I miss it!

Besides doing work for ESCUnited, how do you spend your free time?

I play too much Guitar Hero and sometimes stream it over at twitch.tv/gaebpls, I play both piano and drums and get unnecessarily agitated about politics.

Tell us one interesting fact about yourself?

I won a TV gameshow when I was 11 years old. Yes, there is a video. Yes, you may see it… if you can find it!
