Not too long ago, the submission period ended in Estonia, and Estonian broadcaster (ERR)could then reveal, that a total of 171 submissions were received by the end of the deadline. Now the question that remains, is if Estonia could continue the success that Tommy Cash brough them.
Eesti Laul 2026
After a succesful 3rd place finish in Basel, the interest of representing Estonia still remains high, despite a small drop of entries. The final decision will even take place on the 14th of February 2026, when Estonia all together will decide that.
However for now, the way we get to that date, will now be done through various stages. All of this will be dealt with by the Estonian broadcaster first, when they now have to decide which entries will compete in the one night final show in February.
The main points at the moment now, is that a jury which consists of 34 members, will together decide which 12 songs will get the shot, to be performed on the big Estonian stage. ERR did also reveal, that among the 171 submitted entries, 77 of them were in Estonian, while the remaining 94 are in other foreign languages. Submissions were received from up to 20 different nations across the world, among those nations, were entries received even from countries such as Australia and Brazil.
It might sound like a difficult task at this point now, but it won’t be long before we actually get to learn which 12 names have been selected. The names of the 12 artists that have been selected, are expected to be revealed and shared with the public around the start of November. While the songs that will compete are expected to be released to the public, sometime in early December.
With that, all we can do for now is wait, and soon enough we shall learn who are the candidates for representing Estonia in 2026.
Until then, let’s rewatch their 2025 entry, which was performed by Tommy Cash. In Basel, Estonia was represented by the song “Espresso Macchiato“, which became quite to social media phenomenon, when it in the end managed to finish at 3rd place, with a total of 356 points, which were gathered from the public and the jurors of Europe and Australia.
