Some time ago by now, a surprise announcement was made, when Montenegro’s national broadcaster (RTCG) had decided to announce that they would be returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. We now have the name on that artist, but the song we’ll have to wait for. While we wait, let’s see who this young singer is.

Montenegro returning after 10 years

The contest in Tbilisi, Georgia, will mark the 3rd appearance for Montenegro in the juniors edition of the song contest. Montenegro made their debut all the way back in 2014, and competed as well in 2015. After that, the country went fully absent from the contest, until this year.

As they say, third time’s the charm and that is exactly what we can hope for. Asja Džogović will represent the country, after she was internally selected by the Montenegrin broadcaster.

Asja Džogović who is 13 years old, comes from a small town named “Bijelo Polje”, which is located closely to the Serbian border. Other than a great passion for singing, she also likes to paint and play volleyball.
Despite her young age, she is already familiar with the arts of performing, having won multiple awards for children around the country, as well as having participated in festivals in Zagreb, Sarajevo and Belgrade.

About her selection, she also stated the following:

  • I am looking forward to representing my country, Montenegro, at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Georgia. I am proud, and at the same time I feel a great responsibility. I will do my best to present my country in the best possible way, as I have done so far. I believe in myself, my authors, and I am sure that I will continue the series of successes that I have achieved at prestigious festivals in the region. This is another great challenge for me, the biggest one so far, but I believe that we will achieve significant success in Georgia as well.”

The selection was decided upon researching young talents from around the country, who had made some significant impressions from various festivals, both local, as well as regional. Priority even being given to those who were declared winners, within the last 2 years.

At the moment, there is no information about when a song will be released, nor who will be behind it, but when everything is getting ready, the song will as well be released in due time. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest will this year be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, after Georgia scored a record breaking 4th win. The contest will be held on the 13th of December 2025.

Montenegro’s last participation was all the way back in 2015, when Jana Mirković represented the country with the song “Oluja“. Out of Montenegro’s two past participation, this is the one that fared a bit better, when finishing on 13th place with 36 points, out of 17 total participants.
