It might be a minor upgrade, but and upgrade is still an upgrade. Back in August, Finnish broadcaster (YLE) opened up their submission period, which only lasted for just about a week. Despite the short period, it is clear that artists were ready in line to send their entries.

The Finnish broadcaster has revealed, that a total of 491 entries had been received. It’s only a slightly higher number than last year, but it still shows the high expectation and great interest in the competition within the country’s border. Despite the very short time for interested acts to submit their entries, it shows that many prepare well ahead, just to be ready to send their potential.
This is not the only news that was shared, it was also mentioned that tickets for the Finnish national final, are set to go on sale on October 2nd 2025, at 9:00 AM Finnish time. The broadcaster is well set and prepared to once gain welcome fans from all across the world, with 20.000 fans joining the party in Tampere.
It has been well known for a long while now, that the national final will be held on the 28th of February 2026, but now it has also been confirmed that once again, 7 acts will selected to feature in the show, for the Finnish ticket to Vienna, Austria.
It has also been shared, that artists that are in the end selected to participate in the competition, will be revealed all together January 14th 2026 and then all the songs will be revealed one by one each day, in the following days afterwards.
Erika Vikman was declared the UMK winner of 2025, as so she went on to represent Finland at the 2025 contest, with the song “Ich Komme“. Her performance proved effective, for her to qualify to the final, where she ultimately finished in 11th place, with 196 point total.
