Since Albania’s debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, they have always been among the first nations to select their entry, this is thanks to their annual music festival – Festivali i Këngës – which will be celebrating it’s 64th edition this December.
Festivali i Këngës 64
The annual festival is held every year around Christmas time, and it is expected that will also be the case for this year, but for now, while we wait for the confirmation of the dates, it has been confirmed that the festival will last 4 nights once more.
It has also been shared, that the names of all the participants will be revealed in the very near future, perhaps some time in October, and with all the competing songs also being released some time in November, in order to listeners to get to know the songs ahead of time and get used to their potential favorites.
Festivali i Këngës producer, Belioza Çoku, had shared the following:
- “The expertise will be in establishing a structure or protocol, which does all the necessary research to ensure that the creation is original, is appropriate, has been worked on under quality conditions and is being broadcast at the appropriate level.”
- “On the way, you will also hear about some small mini-projects that guarantee both audience participation and an encounter with these productions or songs before they are shown on the nights of the Festival. The third night will be the night of nostalgia, as we notice that the Albanian audience is very interested“.
With that, we will most likely get two evenings with semi-finals, the third evening will then be the nostalgia evening and the final evening is when the winner of the festival will be decided.
Once again, no specific dates have been revealed yet, but are expected to be known very soon.
In 2025, Europe saw Albania bring their “Zjerm” on stage, which was performed by the duo Shkodra Elektronike. The duo swayed viewers across Europe in the final, when they managed to come in 5th place with the televote, unfortunately the juries weren’t as easily impressed, which ultimately landed Albania on 8th place in the final, with a score of 218 points.
