Slovenia kicks into high gear with the return of the beloved national final Evrovizijska Melodija – EMA, for short.

RTV Slovenia has officially opened applications for EMA 2025, Slovenia’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. The event, scheduled for February 1, will determine Slovenia’s representative for Eurovision 2025. Interested performers have until November 25 to submit their applications.

Applications can be submitted through RTVSLO’s website, requiring a finalized recording of the song in mp3 format, song lyrics, an artist photo, a biography detailing the artist’s creative and musical background, and a signed declaration form included in the application guidelines.

A selection committee of at least three members will review all submissions and select 12 songs to compete at Ema 2025. The final list of chosen entries will be published by December 20.

The EMA 2025 competition will feature a two-round voting process.

Round 1: Jury Voting

  • Five specialized juries vote in the first round, each with five members.
  • Each jury group awards points using the Eurovision scoring format (1-8, 10, and 12 points).
  • Jury groups include:
    • Music industry professionals: singers, songwriters, arrangers, and producers.
    • Television experts: editors, presenters, directors, choreographers, and designers.
    • Radio experts: radio editors, journalists, and presenters.
    • Eurovision fan jury: members from OGAE Slovenia, a club of Eurovision enthusiasts.
    • International Eurovision influencers: bloggers, vloggers, online journalists, and commentators from abroad.

Round 2: Superfinal and Public Voting

  • Top two songs from the jury round advance to the superfinal.
  • In the superfinal, the two remaining songs are performed once again.
  • Public voting determines the final winner via landline and mobile phone voting.

The winning song, chosen by the public, will represent Slovenia at Eurovision 2025 in Basel.

Last Eurovision season (2024), Raiven represented Slovenia with her song “Veronika,” successfully qualifying for the Grand Final. She finished in the 23rd place.
