Drag and Eurovision often go together like a good cheese and a fine wine. After the Eurovision music challenge on Drag Race UK, many were hoping on even more Eurovision and Melodifestivalen representation when Drag Race Sverige was announced last year.

The Swedish version of the internationally acclaimed RuPaul’s Drag Race premiered on March 4 on SVT1 and features nine Drag Queens all vying for the title of Sweden’s first Drag Superstar. This inaugural season of Sweden’s version of Drag Race already gave us Euphoria as a lipsync song, both Loreen and Tone Sekelius as guest judges on the panel and a guest appearance of Omar Rudberg on the Snatch Game episode. However, in last week’s episode, we got another familiar Eurovision face on the show.

Robin Bengtsson on SVT1’s Drag Race Sverige

In the episode Drรถmsystrarย (Dream Sisters) on April 8, Robin Bengtsson appeared as a celebrity guest. As is tradition on Rupaul’s Drag Race, with only a few episodes to go till the finale, the remaining five Queens headed into the makeover challenge. On this season, the Queens had to make over five Swedish MAA fighters. And among those fighters was Robin Bengtsson.ย Bengtsson was paired up with the current frontrunner of the season, Admira Thunderpussy, to be turned into her drag sister, Stareena Thunderpussy.

Interestingly, this makeover episode never once acknowledges Robin Bengtsson’s international recognition nor his Melodifestivalen win or his top five ranking in Eurovision 2017. But we could of courseย not go on without telling you about his amazing Drag Race appearance.

Robin Bengtsson won Melodifestivalen 2017 and hailed the flag for Sweden at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with the songย I Can’t Go On, ranking 5th in the finale.
