Festival da Canção 2025 kicked off this evening with the first semi-final. 

Five artists qualified for the final based on a 50/50 split between the jury and public vote:

  1. Jéssica Pina – “Calafrio”
  2. JOSH – “Tristeza”
  3. Marco Rodrigues – “A Minha Casa”
  4. Bluay – “Ninguém”
  5. Margarida Campelo – “Eu sei que o amor”

Joining them in the final is Peculiar, who qualified with “Adamastor” after a second round of public voting to select the sixth finalist.

The 10 competing artists performed in the following running order:

  1. Xico Gaiato – “Ai Senhor!”
  2. Rita Sampaio – “Voltas”
  3. Du Nothin – “Sobre Nós”
  4. Marco Rodrigues – “A Minha Casa”
  5. Margarida Campelo – “Eu sei que o amor”
  6. JOSH – “Tristeza”
  7. Capital da Bulgária – “Lisboa”
  8. Bluay – “Ninguém”
  9. Jéssica Pina – “Calafrio”
  10. Peculiar – “Adamastor”

The show was hosted by Jorge Gabriel and José Carlos Malato. Fogo Fogo performed Jorge Fernando’s 1985 Festival RTP da Canção song “Umbadá” during the interval.

The second semi-final will take place next Saturday, March 1. Six more artists will qualify for the final of Festival da Canção 2025 on Saturday, March 8 2025.

Portugal’s only Eurovision win came in 2017, with Salvador Sobral’s “Amar pelos dois.” The song received a record-breaking 376 votes from the public – the highest televote in the contest’s history at the time.
