
Festival da Canção 2025 kicked off this evening with the first semi-final.
Five artists qualified for the final based on a 50/50 split between the jury and public vote:
- Jéssica Pina – “Calafrio”
- JOSH – “Tristeza”
- Marco Rodrigues – “A Minha Casa”
- Bluay – “Ninguém”
- Margarida Campelo – “Eu sei que o amor”
Joining them in the final is Peculiar, who qualified with “Adamastor” after a second round of public voting to select the sixth finalist.
The 10 competing artists performed in the following running order:
- Xico Gaiato – “Ai Senhor!”
- Rita Sampaio – “Voltas”
- Du Nothin – “Sobre Nós”
- Marco Rodrigues – “A Minha Casa”
- Margarida Campelo – “Eu sei que o amor”
- JOSH – “Tristeza”
- Capital da Bulgária – “Lisboa”
- Bluay – “Ninguém”
- Jéssica Pina – “Calafrio”
- Peculiar – “Adamastor”
The show was hosted by Jorge Gabriel and José Carlos Malato. Fogo Fogo performed Jorge Fernando’s 1985 Festival RTP da Canção song “Umbadá” during the interval.
The second semi-final will take place next Saturday, March 1. Six more artists will qualify for the final of Festival da Canção 2025 on Saturday, March 8 2025.
Portugal’s only Eurovision win came in 2017, with Salvador Sobral’s “Amar pelos dois.” The song received a record-breaking 376 votes from the public – the highest televote in the contest’s history at the time.
