RTL has revealed that 459 entries were submitted for the Luxembourgish preselection for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.

The Luxembourgish broadcaster closed yesterday the submissions for the remaining categories of singers and songwriters, as they revealed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that 459 entries were received for the preselection. A jury will decide in November which songs will make it to the national selection, which will be televised on January 27th at the Rockhal in Esch-Belval.

More than 200 producers worked with bands, duos and solo singers for the preselection. Prior to the submission deadline RTL interviewed several music producers to find out how the Luxembourgish music scene is preparing for the country’s return to the contest.

Producer and composer Anselme Pau told RTL the following: “Eurovision is a show that is watched all around the world and it’s a big thing for a Luxembourgish artist…an artist or a band can benefit from an international exposure every year, it’s very big”.

Over the coming weeks, RTL will broadcast reports and interviews with the music producers involved in the preselection.

The Luxembourgish national broadcaster has also announced that Ralph Siegel, who has participated in a record 25 editions of the Eurovision Song Contest and wrote the following entries for Luxembourg: “Bye Bye I Love You” in 1974, “Papa Pingouin” in 1980 and “Children, Kinder, Enfants ” in 1985, has worked on 3 entries for this year’s national selection. The producer also worked with Germany, Switzerland, Montenegro, Malta and San Marino at Eurovision, his best result being the German entry “Ein bißchen Frieden” sung by Nicole in 1982, which brought Germany its first victory at the Eurovision Song Contest.
