Usually, the countries in the Caucasus region are among the last to present their song, and Georgia remained true to that claim once more. We now have all of the 37 names that will be competing for the glass trophy in Basel, so let’s have a quick look on who our last singer in the line-up is.
Internal Selection
Georgia usually mixes it around now and then, when it comes to how they decide on their act. In 2023, their representative was selected through “The Voice of Georgia“, while the song was internally selected. Last year, in 2024, both act and song was internally selected, which finally saw Georgia qualify for the final for the first time since 2016, so now, we will see the same method in use once again.
Mariam Shengelia has been selected as the singer that will represent Georgia in Basel, and she will represent her country with the song “Freedom“.
The song was composed by Keti Gabisiani, while the lyrics were written by Buka Kartozia. Georgia is set to perform in the second half of the second semi-final, which is set to take place on the 15th of May 2025.
About Mariam Shengelia
Mariam Shengelia comes from a small town in Georgia and has been singing from a very young age. With hard work and dedication, she’s managed to build up her career.
First when she took part at reality singing shows, is when she first started to gain momentum and attention. She has participated in both “X Factor Georgia” as well as “The Voice of Georgia.” Most recently, she has also participated in “Dancing With The Stars of Georgia“.
Some of her past experience also include her being a member of the band Mixtura, who are known for fusion of diverse musical genres. She was even set to be a backing vocalist for Tornike Kipiani in 2020, but unfortunately that never happened, due to the COVID-19 pandemic which forced the contest to be cancelled.
Now, she will finally get that chance to be on the Eurovision stage and not just as a backing vocalist, but as the main star of the performance.
