The rumors have been swirling around for weeks now regarding the British entry for the song contest, but those rumors have now been put to rest. Early morning the British broadcaster (BBC) could finally reveal not only the act for the 2025 contest, but also the song.
Internal Selection
The United Kingdom have been making use of an internal selection since 2020, and that will be the case once again for 2025. Unlike last year, it’s been very quiet from the British broadcaster regarding the 2025 contest in general. Unlike last year, when Olly Alexander was quickly announced as one of the first performers for the contest.
For 2025, the UK has became one of the last ones to announce their representative instead, but nonetheless, we shall see whether the United Kingdom can pull something out of their sleeve in May.
With time, most rumors did pinpoint to a specific act, but this morning during the BBC 2 radio broadcast, Scott Mills was not only given the honor of presenting the act, but also the song as well, during the broadcast of his breakfast show.
The girl trio known as Remember Monday were officially presented the 2025 British representative, and they will compete with the song “What The Hell Just Happened?“.
The song is written and composed by the trio, as well by Julie Aagaard, Kes Kamara, Sam Brennan, Thomas Stengaard and Tom Hollings.
The United Kingdom as one of the BIG-5 countries are pre-qualified for the final, which will take place on the 17th of May 2025.
About Remember Monday
The trio consists of members Charlotte Steele, Holly-Anne Hull and Lauren Byrne. The trio originally met, while they were all studying together, which is also where their bond started.
With all three having a passion for music, the trio began recording and sharing videos of themselves singing to various social media platforms. These videos would garner them attention, which would become the start of their journey together.
In 2019, they participated in “The Voice UK“, where they were coached by Jennifer Hudson. The trio managed to survive the battle round, before eventually being eliminated in the knockout round.
After the conclusion of the pandemic, the trio decided to fully dedicate themselves to their passion for singing and making music, by leaving their full time jobs in 2023. Which has resulted in the release of two EP’s on the way. Next on their musical journey, awaits the contest in Basel.
The name Remember Monday comes from the idea of the trio always had their music lessons on Mondays.
