Denmark sure is not afraid to get around, and in 2026, we will once again see this happen. The Danish national final “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix” will in 2026 be hosted in the city of Frederikshavn. You might even wonder, where exactly this is, and if you have any plans on attending the show, then we’ll share with you some further information.
Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026
To begin with, the city of Frederikshavn is located on the peninsula of Jutland – Jylland in Danish – in the far north. It is not exactly the most northern tip of the country, but it is quite close and it will also be the northern most city, to host the event, in the history of the contest.

The event will be hosted in the Arena Nord complex, which is located less than 2km from the center of the city and can host up to 4.000 spectators for concerts. Not exactly a large venue, it’s actually smaller than the venue that hosted the 2023 contest in Nรฆstved, but also slightly bigger than the venue that hosted the 2024 contest in Copenhagen.
Just to clarify, despite limited and far smaller capacity, the show has still managed to come out at screens, as an impressive show. Show producer, Erik Struve Hansen has even commented on the topic as well, saying as follow: (direct translation)
- “There will be a great opportunity to experience the show. We’ve previously also been in DR’s Concerthall, – 2024 venue – where there was room for even less.“
Both the city and venue are already preparing now for what will be two weeks of party and colors, as “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026” is already set to be held on the 14th of February 2026 and one week later, the childern’s version “MGP” will then be held on the same stage and venue, on the 21st of February 2026.
The format and rules for the upcoming “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026” have not yet been released, but will be clarified over the coming months, as preparations are taking place.
In 2025, Sissal was selected to represent Denmark at the contest. With her performance of “Hallucination” the country finally saw a return to the final, for the first time since 2019. In the end, the final result ended with a 23rd place, with a total of 47 points.
