It’s been a long trip and at this point, we almost know all the songs that will compete in Basel. We’re just squeezing the last few songs that are left, and today we officially got the Swiss entry, which will wow the home crowd in May.
Internal Selection
Switzerland returned to the format of internally selecting their entry back in 2019. After multiple years with a national final format, which did manage to score a few qualifications, it was still below the expected outcome.
When the country then switched back to internal selections from 2019 and onwards, it has only resulted in placements in the final. Not only has Switzerland qualified from the semi-final every year since then, but they’ve also managed to secure three top 5 results in that short amount of time, which includes their victory from last year.
Now, it will be up to Zoë Më and her song “Yoyage” to impress not only the home crowd, but all of the viewers from, Europe, Australia and rest of the world, in order to secure the country of the Alps another impressive result. The song was penned by Emily Middlemas, Tom Oehler and herself.
Switzerland in 2025
The journey has been ongoing for a long time already now, despite it’s only recent that we got to learn both the name and the song of the Swiss team for 2025.
Both song and artist were decided upon long ago, but only now it was made public. A choreography for the performance has most likely been in work as well all this time, other then preparing and filming the music video. With pre-parties coming up soon, Zoë Më will have the chance to get comfortable with performing for a crowd and get a chance to talk with the press. Which we hope that she will take the time and speak with us as well.
Later today, we will even learn from what position Switzerland will perform at in the grand final. Since Switzerland are hosting the contest, they will be the only country, to have their running order position drawn randomly, in order to avoid any ideas of giving the host nation any possible advantage.
As pointed out, Switzerland as the host nation is already pre-qualified for the final, but will be voting in the first semi-final. Meaning that on the 13th of May, we will be seeing what the Swiss has in store for not only us, but viewers from anywhere.
