After an intense 2025, by hosting the entire contest, the Swiss broadcaster can now switch back to the usual, for 2026. The Swiss broadcaster (SRG SSR) will participate in 2026, and they will go with what has worked so well for them in the past few years, by selecting internally once again.
Switzerland in 2026
Basel, Switzerland, hosted the 2025 contest, and gave the Swiss broadcaster a lot to do for the 2025 season, but for 2026, we can expect the Swiss to return to the usual stuff.
Since 2019, Switzerland has internally selected their entry, and have qualified for the final every single year, which has even included a total of four top 10 results, and to specify even further, three of them were top 5 results.
With that in mind, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the Swiss will continue to select their entry, in the exact same way, as they’ve done ever since.
Submissions for interested will open on the 4th of August – 9:00 CET and will last until 25th of August 2025 – 23:00 CET. The aim for the Swiss, is to keep up to momentum with these respectable results and build upon the success that the Swiss music industry has had lately.
Both a Swiss jury and an international jury will be in charge of selecting the best suited song for the contest. The entry will first be revealed sometime in 2026. In the lead up to the reveal, a lot of work will also be done behind the scenes, since a music video, promotional material and more will be worked upon, prior to the release.
Since the submission deadline is also prior to the release deadline, which is set by the EBU, the submitted songs can’t be publicly available before release.
In 2025, Zoë Më was the singer who was selected to make the Swiss public proud, on home soil. She performed her song “Voyage” which managed to impress the juries, and score her 214 points. Sadly, the same couldn’t be said about the public vote, which didn’t even award her a single point, pulling her down to a respectable 10th place overall.
