Anggun, who represented France in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest with “Echo (You and I) is off to new adventures. The 38 year old singer is currently a judge on X-Factor Indonesia.

She was actually born and raised in Indonesia and only moved to France in the 90s and is considered a superstar in her home country. Her last 4 albums all went to the Number 1 spot so it shouldn’t come as a suprise that her appearance on the X-Factor significantly helped the show’s ratings. Some people call it the “Anggun effect and the goal is to make the show the most watched show in 2013.

We wish Anggun the best of luck on her current project. Unfortunately her participation in Eurovision was less successful as her song ended up in a disappointing 22nd place. The singer later told the press that she had originally hoped to reach a place within the top 10 and was deeply disappointed with the final result.

Good for her! As a fan of “Snow on the Sahara,” I was excited when I heard she was to represent France. And I’m glad nul points from the televotes didn’t hurt her career.

And not to hijack the thread, but since Roy mentioned San Marino, has anyone heard this San Marino song yet!? I so want to hear this song!

What if San Marino picks the Indonesian X factor winner to be their entry in 2014?

I hope her euro song is echoing in Indonesia? I wonder if she wouldnot have done better had she sung part of the song in the Indonesian language? The song is actually very good.
